New DLC for Aoe2 is out: Dynasties of India

Riso posted:

Before 2016, LMP1 budgets were said to be, in millions:

Audi: 242
Porsche: 200+
Toyota: 80

Audi had to cut budget, Toyota increased.
That seems incredibly huge for basically one event.

Not that bad, it's for all eight WEC events. Manufacturers are not allowed to just compete at a single race.

I meant more that only one race matters, other races have miniscule TV ratings and media exposure.

The WEC season pretty much gets treated like a testing program for Le Mans by most manufacturers.

If he's referring to the deltawing? Then that was a garage 56 entry which is a special class for new technologies that isn't classified in the normal race so it kinda doesn't count in terms of WEC requirements I assume.

No, I meant their LMP1 project.

Didn't they run in other races but just did it very badly?

jammyozzy
Dec 7, 2006

Is that a challenge?
No, they spent the first half of the season saying "No really guys, we're totally doing the next one, honest." and then not turning up. They got one car through the 24 hours, bailed on the rest of the season to try and get ready for this year and then the program got canned.

I just meant their LMP1 was stretching the definition of "compete"

Did you notice this years garage 56 entry? A quadriplegic guy driving a P2 car.

And he finished.

Now that's impressive.

Manual stick shift gearboxes are the answer guys. Imagine the number of transmissions wrecked during a race.

Austria is great because:

A: its in Austria
B: the layout doesn't suit Red Bull's cars or their philosophy, so despite Red Bull having their name plastered all over it they're never going to win this one and will look miserable every year at their "home" grand prix

The minute Renault unfucks themselves is when RB goes back to winning every race

They've won everywhere in all sorts of circuits what makes you think they can't win in their own track?

Newey is a spent force and Red Bull is now like Ferrari in the 80s where they keep building good cars but the team infighting destroys any possibility of getting consistent good results.

See: the last few races.

I just want them to get so bad that ricciardo can use the performance clause in his contract. Get on a team that doesn't steal men's souls.
