maybe it's because i played a shitload of rts but the whole deal of having UI be on the edges of the screen never bothered me. In fact I kind of want UI elements kept out of the center of the screen which is the info i really want to focus the most on. not that I'm good at clicking on people, just the peripheral UI does not seem like a real problem

I try not to leave even if it's round end and my team got steamrolled. Usually it seems like the people who were raging the worst about how they were doing everything and the team sucked will leave, and the ones that have the patience to stick with it for the next round tend to be better players. Constantly leaving and fishing for a better game may be the worst way to actually get one. Unless I get a loot crate, in which case I've got to drop immediately and go get my sweet duplicate sprays.

Most gamers are used to peripheral UI since the information is there, if there's a major state change you'll usually catch it in the corner of your eyes if you're attentive, and it doesn't overly clutter the center of the screen. That is, the part of the screen that's most important to the player's ability to read silhouettes and situationally adapt. The vast majority of FPSes do it this way for a reason. And some, like the CoDs, do away with health bars altogether. I don't have to be staring directly at the corner of my screen to see that an orange square has just turned white with a flash and a little chime to tell me an ability's off cooldown, there's enough peripheral information there that I don't need to distract myself from the actual game in front of me.

I haven't read this whole thread but I guess I"m the only person that thinks Symmetra's turrets need to be nerfed badly. Given I spent the afternoon wreaking people on defense with someone else playing Symmetra and the other team being unable to advance at all.

Symmetra's turrets are going to give her a pretty fast teleporter, which isn't really consistently avoidable since if one of her teammates contests the corridor she places them in, said turrets will almost certainly damage done. However, if the turets are repeatedly killing people then those victims are very obstinate in choosing to die to the same thing over and over again.

Yeah it's not hard to look at and read it easily when you're bouncing around spawn punching basketballs. It's much harder to split your attention to it when you're fighting a Tracer and a D.va while trying to stay out of the line of fire of a Widow and making sure the Mercy who's healing you isn't taking hits from a flanker. You need to be able to read it in a fraction of a second without actually looking at it. Ironically, the UI design makes it way easier to see enemy HP (bright red bar for HP contrasting with empty space for no HP, near where you're aiming) than your own. That's a complete reversal from almost any other game in this genre, where they usually don't show you enemy HP at all but make your own very obvious.

I just looked up the most popular 'picking a tf2 hud' video on youtube and most of the recommended ones move the health bars up and closer to the middle from the default so I don't think I'm totally insane for thinking that'd be nice. I'm not saying it needs to be moved for everyone, I just like customizable UI's in general.

Flashbang has always lasted for only 3 FtH shots. It used to do 235 damage before the stun wore off, now it only does 160 so Genji hold down one of two different cooldowns to escape it then murder McCree.

Yeah but if the Tracer is jumping around like a hyper active bunny (like she should) then even if she gets stunned she will slide like 20 feet and you have time for one shot, and if you miss Tracer mashes E and then murders you.

Healing people with him takes a split second of attention. You spend most of the time trying to nail people in the head with orbs. If you wanted to pocket heal someone from cover you'd play mercy.
