Yeah, even if you think you'll do a much better job than any Labor candidate you should only go after those nasty Liberals because apparently they're the only ones who've been attacking you? Paul Keating was cool when he was laying down sick burns in question time, what happened Paul?

Fashwatch Sunday Edition: We Aren't Racist! This is probably my last fash watch post before I head over to yurop, but today is sure to be a doozy. The Brexit Effect So really unsurprisingly, the Brexit result has reinvigorated right-wing nationalist movements in the western world, and Australia is no exception. The UPF facebook page has basically been nothing but celebratory and alarmist poo poo, although really this is just going to be backdrop for today. Posted to the UPF page. No caption needed Melbourne - 26/06 So some peeps may have heard but the True Blue Crew (of Coburg fame, some sources claim this is kind of like a youth/gang wing of the UPF) is organising a rally in front of Parliament House in Melbourne today, and it'll actually happen really shortly. I think that this rally is a change of tactics for the UPF/TBC, as rally is about "Flag pride" or something, and it is claimed that it isn't about Muslims or something. This is the event details. Dumb flag thing posted:On Sunday the 26th of June, we will be walking to celebrate our Australian National Flag. Personally, I think this is a slight tactic change by the UPF/TBC in order to attract people they normally wouldn't get. The even currently has 232 people going on facebook, but I doubt they will get these numbers. There really isn't a proximal thing to get angry, rather it's "those drat leftists" or something and people aren't burning flags in the street so Opposition to the rally Obviously people aren't going to let dumb racists rally in Melbourne so theres a counter-protest happening now. The standard tactic is to show up about 30mins or greater earlier than the people holding the rally in order to take over the site of the rally and force the original rally holders to go somewhere less prominant. This was done in Brisbane and actually ended up with a nice charge of the police cordon (they let as pass, lmao). From the initial pictures, the counter-demonstration has control of the steps of Parliament. https://twitter.com/abcnewsMelb/status/746875475742470148 https://twitter.com/gayedemanuele/status/746875790336233472 https://twitter.com/DarrenGrayRural/status/746866520005869568 e: https://twitter.com/slackbastard/status/746876059002363905 Looks like it's about to get going

Fascinating developments in brexit territory last nightLer posted:There is some suggestion, and speculation that Scotland and NIRE could possibly veto the EU exit. Scotland & NI have the power of Veto on Brexit ALSO! the EU said that there's no way for Scotland to remain in the EU while it's a part of the UK. quote:European Commission says after Brexit vote: Scotland part of UK So either Scotland or NI uses its power of Veto and pisses off most of England, or Scotland votes to Secede. Even if it does get vetoed and some of the economic consequences are avoided, I'm not sure how or if you can put the genie back in the bottle with regards to how much the referendum has legitimised xenophobia and ultra-nationalism.

The only way back is for the politicians to actually do something to improve standards of living for the working class instead of just paying lip service. The silver lining is that this movement seems to be scaring the neoliberal establishment as much as it is the left so maybe something might come of it.
