in all actuality though celiac disease is extremely rare and extremely serious. bored housewives that are convinced they are allergic to gluten are to be laughed at

yeah i know one of those. it's clearly an attention getting behavior. she makes a giant deal about it every time we go out to eat but come to find out she's never actually been tested or diagnosed. she just "knows" it. The sad thing is that she decided her son had it too and forced him to avoid gluten his whole life but now that he's 18 he insisted on getting tested and she threw a fit. turns out he's fine and gets to move on with his life now that makes me sad for him, for her, and for everyone who actually suffers from it because people like her reflect badly on people with a real serious issue

We just had to change our diet here, Eliuxz got preliminary diagnosis for Celiac disease, but tbh. aside from the insane food prices, it's not that bad. You can eat most things that are healthy anyways.

Part of it is also that a lot of poo poo processed food contains gluten, so people who eat like poo poo try to experiment with going gluten free and suddenly now that they're not eating that processed poo poo oh wow they feel so much better, it must have been the gluten I know 2 people with actual celiac's and the gluten free fad has been a blessing and a curse for them. The curse is that people roll their eyes and say yeah right when they say they can't gluten, even though they're the few who legitimately can't. The blessing, which somewhat outweighs the curse, is that gluten free stuff is so much more widely available and better labelled now. |
