I think I should stop looking till after I am ready to buy cause I will keep seeing stuff I wish I had made an impulse purchase on pre-maturely.

That's a beautiful bike for a solid price, but there will be others. Wait until you have your MC endorsement, and a set of gear, and enough money for the bike in your price range. Then, after you have bought a bike, stop browsing the markets. This is the way of the least pain and frustration.

Like most scrap yards, they had nothing but junk and overpriced parts. The only thing mildly interesting was an xs650 engine, some small 2t twin, and a rusty water buffalo out front they wanted 3k for.

That bike is a screaming deal if what they listed is correct. Buy it and send me that rear rack, please!

Seriously, I'd say it needs valves adjusted and carbs cleaned/synced, which isn't a big deal.

Buy it.

edit: must be the great bike market in cali, because if that bike were listed here it would have sold overnight.

Yeah 50k on a 250 that has a PO that doesn't know wtf means it's about to pop, pass. Those bikes make it to 75k on the original engine with immaculate care, and nothing about that ad reads immaculate care.

I had to re-valve one that had 60k on it.
The motor was basically trashed, needed over-bore, piston and rings but the owner didn't want to do all that.

Oh well...

There's a difference between maintaining your own bike and putting 50k on it, and paying anything for a bike someone else has put 50k on.

If it came with all the original parts that they swapped out, that's actually a semi sane price for a grom. You'd have to unfuck it, though. Can't have that extended swingarm getting in the way of your mad grom wheelies, brah.

The most terrifying bike I've ever wheelied is a grom. Very short wheelbase and very light weight so things get out of hand fast.

Nah, it's just people trying to inflate the value of their bike with higher miles. Eyetalian poo poo usually measures from the rear wheel so people that say it in that case are just dumb.

Newer bikes will measure speed based somewhere off the final drive. My Sprint ST does that, so I've gotta go into it in TuneECU at some point and adjust the speedo calculation when I put a smaller front sprocket on it(it already reads 10% too high from the factory)

Could also be an indicator of bro bullshit, though. I'd worry more about the rest of the bike's condition.

"Top speed 90 mph depending on rider weight."

So if the rider weighs 0 lb, then? Actually I bet it doesn't have the gearing for that speed.

Would $1500-1600 be reasonable for this SV? 33k miles, but he's actually had the valves adjusted.

So here is something I don't get.

I'm looking at Ninja 250's and 300's, etc. as a starter bike, and on CL I'm seeing this weird discrepancy.
(Forgive me, I'm all new to this, so I might be missing something!)

I've found 2 different 2007 Ninja 250's for 1700 and 2000 respectively.

2007 - https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/5650337900.html - $1700 - 13K MILES
2007 - https://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/mcy/5659528683.html - $2000 - 14,400 miles

But then, I also found a 2011 and a 2012 but the prices are way lower? Which didn't make sense to me...

2011 - https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/5644774187.html - $1327 - 453 miles
2012 - https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/5641029740.html - $1111 - 473 miles

Am I to assume those last two are just scams or damaged or something similar?

The prices on the 2007's I listed seem more inline with what I've been seeing.
Most Ninja 250's I've seen around 2007 or so range from like 1500-2500 depending on miles mainly.
