A friend linked me to a different gallery of these a few days ago, but this one works too. Apparently replacing Calvin with unironic Trump has become a thing. It's like the new removing Garfield's thought bubbles! http://mashable.com/2015/12/10/donald-trump-calvin-hobbes/#.xkRW_pQi5qS Edit: Geez it's eerie how accurate some of these are. davebo fucked around with this message at 16:39 on Jun 28, 2016 |

Been reading Jack London's The Iron Heel. I have to admit, even as a child of the Reagan's Commy-Hatin' 80's, it's hard not to get fired up by some of the pro-Socialist rhetoric. Fortunately, I read Darkness at Noon a while ago, and learned about Stalin's corruption of the whole Communist Utopian ideal. I guess Marx & the gang overestimated the moral superiority of the proletariat. Ultimately, blind adherence to any rigid ideology is doomed to internal corruption. I was disappointed to find out London misquotes Lincoln with this fine statement: quote:As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before even in the midst of war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/lincoln.asp Still a great book though. Certainly food for thought.
