I recently bought and sold a couple SOTA Street Fighter collections and I have a nice large bag of stuff that broke. Some of it simple like Ibuki's fist pegs breaking when swapping a hand. The later stuff after Jerry sold the company is REALLY bad, Zangief, Dhalsim, Mika, and E Honda are made with terrible brittle plastic.

That's how everything looks when it's not your "thing." Here's a list of stuff that's a lot more indistinguishable to me (because I don't care about it): Gundam, Pokemon, Walking Dead, Pacific Rim.

I can't even imagine how samey the WWE toy section must look to someone that's unfamiliar with wrestling.

Predator and Predator 2 are two of my favorite movies, and I can't tell the difference between most of the Predators

People buy the poo poo out of their Predator stuff so I'd never hold it against them that they focus on it so much. I used to buy it around the time they did Dutch, but eventually tired of it. Was a fun line to grab occasionally for $20 at TRU.

I will never buy another NECA product again - it's all poo poo with garbage paint apps.

McFarlane stuff used to be cool though as many said. It's sorta what got me into this whole hobby. Not much articulation but who cares when they were posed fine already.

Their Hellraiser ripoff(?), Tortured Souls, were loving awesome with great paintapps and cool little features with all the chains.

Mandarin Spawn was a thing of beauty, pretty huge and great paint apps.

And Cyber Spawn

It's a shame it all went to hell.

Anyone ever collect the Resaurus Street Fighter line? I remember those looking beautiful back in the day. I wanted those chibi inspired ones but it was hard to find.

They were pretty solid toys with amazing paint apps.

E: Wow, eBay showing prices a round $100. :3:

I still have the street fighter jr. Ken figure, next to a SOTA Ken on my shelf. I had a Sakura too but she broke.

Good articulation is one of the most important things to me in a figure. I have never enjoyed McFarlane and the statue approach.

Resaurus Street Fighter are fine if you don't mind them having no articulation. Some of the color variants are practically non-existent these days, however. I have every single one including most of the canceled colorways.

But how much of that is the weird new Halo armor designs?

It isn't that. They just have no washes, etc to make the stuff look decent. It is just some flat molded plastic, which when you compare it to the video game makes it look really weird and awful. Also there is some pretty obvious mold issues shown too. It would be more understandable if it were released product since let's be honest 90% of the time a figure looks worse on a retail shelf compared to the promo shots on the package or online. But when the promo shots look that bad and seeing Mattel's track record lately it doesn't give me much hope.

As a plus though I imagine that customizers are going to make those look incredible.

My local comic shop got some of those Mattel Halo figs in recently and I honestly thought they were cheap chinese knock-offs until I saw the Mattel logo. They almost look like there's no paint app at all, just molded colors. It's bad, real bad.

Yeah for real.

Every Predator movie figure has a completely different base figure. It's just...they literally used the same molds to make the costumes.

Aliens included. Aliens was just the Alien suit without a few details, and every ADI alien besides Alien 3 was the same exact thing minus a few details.

If anyone has been on the fence about getting the Chitauri from Hot Toys, I found a price too good to pass up, even as a "sure, why not" option. Popcultcha, the Aussie official distributor for Hot Toys has them on clearance:

I paid $178 shipped with ECI to the US for them both.

If anyone was looking at the Muppet Select line but you don't want to pay $20+ for them, check out Toys R Us. Maybe the line isn't doing that great (they are really small), but it looks like Diamond Select is repackaging them without most of the accessories and knocking the price down to $13.

I think I'll get the cheap versions at Toys R Us from now on for the ones I don't care as much about because paying $10 more just for a popcorn bucket and a tiny plastic tripod (Gonzo package) seems insane. Or on Kermit it looks like you get the banjo but not the guitar and not the directors chair (which isn't even sculpted to fit Kermit's rear end). I like how there are options at least.
