Oh hey, this is my district! I usually vote in local elections, and had no idea there was another primary going on. When was voting for this? It does not surprise me that Bernie-progressives have taken the area: last year we primaried out the establishment Dem mayor who was much more conservative. His parting words were literally "God help [this town]"

GMO people need to embrace labeling and turn it into education. The companies don't want it due to capitalism fear of label=bad, and they'd have to reveal how/why the edited the organism. Just teach people that GMOing is basically just fastforwarding artificial selection we already do anyway to make better plants. The organic companies would want to also then competitively advertise their organic selected strains as well. Capitalism solves all.

GMO labelling really should be a non issue. Just give the hippies their label and then move on to more important things. Personally, I think its kinda stupid to worry about GMO's (Even if it was found that there really a problem with them) considering all the crap we breathe every day and other nasty things.

Farmers then revert to non-GMO because that is what the masses are buying. Farm water use spikes. Additional pesticide and fertilizer usage increases contamination of runoff water. Yield per land area goes down, so more forest is turned into farm land, and more fuel is required to operate farm equipment on the larger land. Probably accelerating global warming and adding to air pollution. But hey, at least you didn't eat that Frankenstein quinoa or some poo poo.

Can someone give me the rundown on how PROMESA is good? May have already posted about it, but didn't get much in the way of a response. Was it necessary or could something better have been crafted? From what I know of it I'm glad Sanders and 17 or so other dems voted against it, but there may be practical reasons for voting for it.
