Oh hey, this is my district! I usually vote in local elections, and had no idea there was another primary going on. When was voting for this? It does not surprise me that Bernie-progressives have taken the area: last year we primaried out the establishment Dem mayor who was much more conservative. His parting words were literally "God help [this town]"

This is likely as far left as establishment dems are willing to go, isn't it? A "sit-in" (direct action=maxed out woke levels, as the kids say) for a racist piece of legislation(but don't worry, it's the principle of the thing because "we have to do something!!11!11!1!"). I'm sure this list of powerful activists will really hammer the message home.

In terms of software and game development, if a feature isn't apparent enough that a trend happens among new players it means that it's poorly designed.

I started watching it myself a couple of days ago. Not perfect. Obviously not as good as the movies. But it's a league better than The Flash. Anytime the scientist characters say anything science-y it makes me want to put my head through a wall.

I never understood the fear of GMOs from the left. Wow, the evils of having fruit and veggies grow at half the speed, needing half the water, growing in terrain that they normally wouldn't be able to and all these good things that allow us to feed the world. Clearly these people are satan-spawn who are turning people who consume these Frankenstein vegetables until mutants by altering their DNA. Furthermore

GMO people need to embrace labeling and turn it into education.

The companies don't want it due to capitalism fear of label=bad, and they'd have to reveal how/why the edited the organism.

Just teach people that GMOing is basically just fastforwarding artificial selection we already do anyway to make better plants. The organic companies would want to also then competitively advertise their organic selected strains as well.

Capitalism solves all.

Make it mandatory to put a warning label on organic produce that was bred through mutagenesis. Give the CHEMICALS AND ATOMS BAD!!! crowd something to really worry over.

It's a stereotype that it is only the far left that hates things like GMOs and vaccines. The reality is that there is little correlation between ideology and the anti-GMO movement.

GMO labelling really should be a non issue. Just give the hippies their label and then move on to more important things.
Personally, I think its kinda stupid to worry about GMO's (Even if it was found that there really a problem with them) considering all the crap we breathe every day and other nasty things.

Meanwhile 90% of the GMO labeled food sits unsold. Farmers then revert to non-GMO because that is what the masses are buying. Farm water use spikes. Additional pesticide and fertilizer usage increases contamination of runoff water. Yield per land area goes down, so more forest is turned into farm land, and more fuel is required to operate farm equipment on the larger land. Probably accelerating global warming and adding to air pollution. But hey, at least you didn't eat that Frankenstein quinoa or some poo poo.

I think it would be sub-5% for reasons such as patents on organisms and lawsuits against farmers. Everyone else would be "Frankenfood" or "well, they require labeling, so SOMETHING must be unsafe about it".

Can someone give me the rundown on how PROMESA is good? May have already posted about it, but didn't get much in the way of a response. Was it necessary or could something better have been crafted? From what I know of it I'm glad Sanders and 17 or so other dems voted against it, but there may be practical reasons for voting for it.

I really, really doubt it. Considering that the majority of foods would have that label, I'd bet a small fraction of people would even care.

Sure. In long-term studies rats that ate GMO's developed cancer.*

*The studies ran for longer than three years and lab mice spontaneously develop tumors past that age. The control groups developed tumors at a statistically identical rate to the experimental groups.

Figures. I'm sure establishment dems/Clinton supporters are crowing about how Congress rescued PR and it was the best they could do in a lovely situation. If they listen hard enough they can hear the shackle snap shut. There was an asinine article about how Sanders started back in his senatorial capacity by already working against party leaders referring to his vote and speaking out against PROMESA.

Political parties really do work like sports teams. When Detroit did something similar (which ended up failing) it was harshly criticized by Dems because it was executed by a Republican governor. Yet when Obama does the same thing with even more control it is a "wide decision."
