Solid money for a back-up 4/5.

Yep. When he was utilized last year, he was effective. There was a logjam at his position on the Suns and between the Markieff drama/playtime yo-yo and prioritizing some of the other young guys later he got lost in the shuffle, but he was good at stretching the floor and put up quite a few double doubles this year. He'll be good as a backup for the pistones

Man if you had a way to show me the value of a dollar and how much NBA players would be making when I am 28 years old I never would have left the gym as a kid.

Joe Young looked good when he got minutes and he had really good synergy with Turner on the floor.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with how Evan Turner plays basketball but unless Marvin Williams doubles his salary this isn't possible

Turner is going to look bad no matter what because he's not an actual basketball player once he leaves Brad Stevens

One thing I've learned over that past two days is how lovely NFL salaries are. Talented kids: baseball or basketball. That's it. Less head trauma, too.

It's nice seeing a union with some strength left in America

Yeah I'm sure Waiters is still on the radar since we still don't have much backcourt depth and he can play either position (badly)

I don't think there are many people who are really choosing between the two in that way. The main basketball guys who succeeded in football aren't guys who had NBA careers waiting for them.

Is the lack of noise around Barnes weird to anyone else? Seems like a bunch of fallback options for Golden State are getting snatched up, too; I'd be surprised if he didn't go back at this point

Yeah if you wanted Barnes you should have blitzed him now with a max contract and hope the Warriors blinked while farting around with Durant

He was super streaky and it was infuriating. I would have liked to have him back to come off the bench, but not in a starter role.

The lack of noise is because a lot of teams are waiting on Durant and the now available Horford which won't be resolved for another couple days.

There's also going to be less noise in general for a RFA because of matching rights.

The double edged sword with "great deals" like Afflalo and Jefferson is that they're completely declining as players and their offense hasn't been really conducive to winning as of late. It'll be interesting to see but I remember everybody making GBS threads on Al-Farouq Aminu's deal last year and praising Kyle O'Quinn and yeah...

Yeah I figured that played into it - Delly is the only RFA to commit to a new team thus far, right?

Yeah if you're a non-rookie guy on an NBA contract and you don't absolutely dominate you are garbage who should be out of the league. Even, like, Cole Aldridge looked like Shaq in his second and third summer leagues

I don't remember any smart cap people saying Aminu's deal was bad, and Kyle O Quinn was still a very good deal.

Uh, so is Vuveic a back-up now? And I guess Aaron Gordan will never see play?

Eh they might be ok. Biyombo isn't going to be shooting too often, so he can play inside and let Ibaka play the stretch. That's a good interior defense though.
