This is the epitome of baaaaad comic strip writing. As far as I can tell, 'two years ago' a guy who looks a lot like Mark Trail gets bit by a red ant on a tropical island, cut to today and Mark Trail Unfortunately, yes, it is the 'real' strip. This is even worse than those old Fox/Sekowsky Justice League arcs where the villains do stupid poo poo like "I rigged the trap to trap everyone outside the trap in case they sprung the trap" poo poo.

I can't really summon too much hate for Tinkersons. It's just one of dozens of the same bland, zero-effort, family slice-of-life strips that infest comics sections today, like Stone Soup or Grand Avenue. Not to say that it's good, it's just not outwardly cancerous like Intelligent Life or Piranah Club. It's like the comics equivalent of a skin tag. It's the concept of "apathy" manifested into comic form.
