Oooh, a Bobcat. I'm getting flashbacks - I think one killed me at least once during Caldera.

We have some pretty dinged up pilots coming out for this. We're not getting any time for rest and recovery between missions?

What happens if someone pratfalls into a minefield? Does the explosion have a chance to hit everywhere or still just the legs?

We knew this was going to be a meat grinder going into this campaign. Honestly, I'm surprised no one has died yet or been seriously crippled... well, except for those two poor Clanner bastards who wound up eating 5 pilot hits each in the previous two missions.

So as far as I can tell, the votes are at: 1A) Jojoken Outskirts: 20 1B) Mt. Kalgalath: 6 1C) Morgaine River Delta: 46 Sidegrade doesn't even need a count; poor Phoenix Hawk. I'd vote myself, but... Anyway, seems like the mercs are headed to the swamps! I'm kind of suprised there isn't any mention that it's the perfect terrain for Clan hovertanks, assuming they have some planetside: it's the perfect place to swarm anyone unlucky enough to fail the slightly-harder piloting role. Jason especially is going to have a fun time trying to use a jump-heavy mech in an area where jumping largely impossible.

We're not fighting the Hell's Horses, so there's little danger of any of the actually good Clan tanks showing up is pretty low. Most other Clans don't rate their vehicle crews as anything more than speed bumps, and why give a speed bump the honor of defeating the Demon Hawks?

That makes me wonder if the NRWR has any combat vehicles of their own... though now that I think about it, they simply might not have enough manpower to field enough vehicles to make a difference against the Clans. CombatVees tend to get pretty crew intensive.

A single driver can control every aspect of a combat vehicle with VDNI implants. Not sure if the NRWR implants are quite that far along, though.

Vehicles don't seem to make much sense for a state that is manufacturing rich and personnel poor, given that the whole reason it seems like they see use is "We can toss a shitload of them in a garrison for way cheaper than an equivalent 'Mech force" (and the crews are endlessly replaceable).

I'm very curious to see what the clans bring to this party. Based on them already employing a Hellstar last mission I'm worried we might see some serious poo poo. Time to hope the Tomahawk II is not a Sea Fox contraption in this timeline...

There are enough mechs designed for it that I'm kinda surprised it never really comes up in the fluff much at all. Picard Day fucked around with this message at 23:05 on Jul 8, 2016 |
