Do any of you computer touchers call yourselves engineers? Traditional engineers are regulated, certified, and subject to apprenticeship and continuing education. Let's get this straight. Silicon Valley is cheapening the title of "Engineer". Here's a list of things that are not engineering:

i can actually apply for chartered engineer status because there's an accrediting body for computer touching in the UK cEng is supposed to be to indicate that you can be trusted to sign off on safety critical poo poo like buildings so i feel that this devalues the whole idea but im gonna apply anyway because lol

100% of engineering these days is using software tools with the additional component of regulatory compliance (100% of which is worked out by external consulting firms specializing in subsections of the federal register) and then signing off on projects.
