and a lot of these roster moves are weird imports that seem to have no real basis in anything or shuffling deck chairs. it's rare for an up and coming player to actually show up anywhere outside of LCK or LPL. LCK teams tend to have good scouting and development and LPL teams have weird FA rules that force them to sign solo queue people in season.

Yeah that's probably more of an issue.

We're a billion years into this & US attention is heading back to FPSes now that they're on PC again and not baby trash like halo or tf2. I think a decline was inevitable but realistically lcs isn't going anywhere before I get sick of watching league anyways so I don't worry about it too much one way or the other.

I think the meta is just boring to watch. Most teams play nearly the same way and everyone plays mostly the same champions, so you don't get nearly as many signature champions/comps/styles that you used to up until the end of Season 4. Like back then, you could tell the styles of every top team apart, even Samsung White/Blue, Naijin Shield, CJ Frost/Blaze etc. Now they all pretty much play the same style.

For all that people complain about teammates and dynamic queue and all that poo poo one might think that there would be at least some movement back toward 1v1 competitive, but nope I guess that ship's sailed forever People will choose to play team games and blame others for being bad until the end of time...

I actually had a guy in game the other day that looked up that I was in a premade and spent the entire game deliberately never being anywhere useful / trying not to win, simply because he was mad at "premades." Then in the post game lobby he claimed he was constantly BM'd the whole game by our premade that didn't say anything to him or do anything to him. He wouldn't tell me what his reddit username was when I asked.

I'd actually be more interested in the worldwide stats for things. NALCS and EULCS having declining viewership is probably cause for concern, but if its being made up everywhere else, Riot probably dgaf. NA is already basically their smallest market.

I won't be surprised if Hearthstone and Overwatch become the most popular esports in Korea soon, but it depends on how badly Blizzard decides to gently caress around with competitive. The decline in popularity for LoL is pretty much entirely Riot's fault.

Overwatch is kind of interesting because FPSes never got much penetration in asia before but I personally do not care about it at all.

Yup, agree with this. The other issue with NA at least is that the regular season is almost pretty much decided, and there's still three weeks and change left to go. The only thing that's really at play is which team of the five mid-tier teams won't make it to playoffs, and say with near 100% certainty it will have to be between Apex and EnvyUS. There doesn't feel like there's much parity between the tiers of teams.
