Haha, Jee-Han finally has embraced player killing. Gamer's mind is a hell of a thing! What is that Life Howling Universe that was referenced in the translation notes, another work by the same author?

I slummed through Life Howling and while it has its entertaining points, most of what stuck out to me was how almost every male was either incompetent or a badguy so that the mildly edgy hero could have sole claim to a harem of grateful waifus, and how almost every female was clothed and posed as if porn were about to happen at any second. I'm genuinely surprised that it and The Gamer came from the same author, the tone and style of each work is very different. According to its original site, http://comico.kr/titles/119, it's actually complete. Somehow that was the end. Perhaps the dangling plot threads are meant to eventually be resolved in The Gamer, given that Jee-Han appears to somehow be the overall director of Life Howling's setting.

Chapter 133 Looks like we're going PvP. I have a feeling that whether the guy respawns or not will decide the tone of the rest of the series.

Maybe the harem king is farming Jee Han to turn him into a giant battery after Jee Han takes care of all his potential enemies.

I'm guessing it's probably something more like killing players in the labyrinth absorbs a portion of their life-force. When they die from traps and monsters and poo poo, the person who set it all up reaps those rewards. When they're killed by another player, the other guy "levels up", and once they're strong enough to 'escape the labyrinth' and keep their powers in real life... they then get captured by the mastermind and enslaved as mana batteries or whatever. It's win/win/win, especially since it explicitly targets people who don't have a connection with the Abyss meaning it's really loving hard for what's going on to get discovered. The perfect crime, basically. Jee-Han is a wrench in the works, who probably wasn't expected.

This chapter was a good reminder that his innate gamer traits are really the most broken thing about him. We're reminded of his super quick exp gain/spell learning, but it's easy to forget he's got easy long-distance communication via party invites, ignoring physical damage and just taking it as a set value off his hp, instant healing and stamina regain when sleeping, and best of all an apparently unlimited inventory to store whatever he wants in a time-locked state. If he had more wisdom he would buy or craft magic items that just store mana or full spells and just stash it in the inventory. Imagine how broken he'd be if he could just pop into his inventory and rapidly cast (either through mana replenishment or just from something similar to a scroll) 10 of his giant full-bar mana bombs at once. Basically pumping int makes sense right now, but I really want one more big wisdom increase that makes him realize how to abuse his inventory. Also with how the 100-multiples of int have had crazy bonuses, I'm curious as hell what the 100 bonus of wisdom is. I have to imagine it'd be more interesting than just a heftier bonus to mana regen. there are bound to be magic items which are cheaper because they decay over time, but i guess the story isn't really about jee-han mastering the intricacies of amazon.com.

Could he put a human in there for safety, and bring them out later? A party member is seriously hurt beyond even Jee-han's ability to heal, pop them into your inventory and bring them out in front of an A+ class abyss healer. Even if he can only fit in small animals that could be useful, get into animal familiars and whatnot. Based on how inventory was described it's a pocket dimension that freezes the contents in time, so a living thing should just be frozen in time too and able to survive. I agree though, more testing is needed. For fun, I'll imagine that if he had 500 int and 500 wisdom he'd realize he can perform item duplication ala FF7 or pokemon and all grinding issues would be replaced with abusing the market and getting the most powerful ~everything~ for sale in the abyss.

So, still no sign of The Gamer reappearing on any of the manga sites I frequent, but I noticed today that Mangacow has picked up another series by the same author. No clue if it's good or not, I'm about to start reading it, but I've got a good feeling about it!
