I guess I'm just really used to using metric and Imperial interchangeably, because I've been playing Ingress for three years and never even consciously noticed that everything was given in meters.

The UK uses Imperial for most roadsigns, but roadsigns must be spaced out in metric. Unless it's an emergency locator sign, which is in kilometres (and have been since the 70s), or bridge height signs, which have to be in dual units.
