Christ, did they just tell everyone not to go to see the movie? Because it kind of looks like it. I also love the part at the end where it's basically the panicky response of PR. quote:To be fair, Ubisoft does view “Creed” as a quality film, not just a marketing tool. “We strongly believe the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ brand has this cross-over appeal that will please both video games fans and movie goers,” the company said in a statement.

Ubisoft probably stopped giving a gently caress because of the imminent hostile takeover from Vivendi I won't see it in theaters but I liked this crew's Macbeth adaptation so much I feel like I have to see it eventually. Since apparently most of the film takes place in the boring genetic memory future, I don't have high hopes for it.

The Hollars - John Krasinski's feature directorial debut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9SvEAm7S6Y Posting primarily because it was filmed in my town and everyone was a dream to work with from what I hear (except Anna Kendrick) - we just did all the financial stuff for them so I never made it on set.

Sharlto Copley with an American accent always weirds me out. Any deets on Kendrick's behaviour? I've heard she's not particularly pleasant.

Everyone else was very down to earth and apparently just love being able to make films and very, I guess, aware of how lucky they are to be in the position they're in so they treated the crew like family. But across the board all of my friends on that shoot (and there were quite a few) all straight up called her "a total bitch" to everyone. I hate using that language as I haven't met her, but they all said the exact same thing. And here's another post - the onion cutting A Monster Calls trailer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMgm20Di9Wg

The fact that they're dedicating so much of the movie to that says to me that they hired a screenwriter who never played the games, got a plot synopsis, and worked from there. Anyone who was even passingly familiar with the series, even if they hate it, would have "Drop the stupid future poo poo" as the number one item on their to do list.

We used to have the same music conductor in Maine and I see some of her tweets, so it's sad to me that she doesn't show much appreciation for the other people involved in making a film. May I never be famous- I couldn't bear becoming egotistical and mean.

Also the trailer is fully sick, you all need to watch it. Looks beautiful and wonderful and awesome. Whiplash was easily the best film of 2014 and I'm looking forward to something so tonally different from Damien Chazelle.

Boring inside baseball stuff about The Bronze: That was one of the last movies Relativity Media snatched up for distribution (after it opened Sundance where critics didn't like it, and that's a fest where people are typically positive on almost everything) before they went bankrupt. For some reason Sony Classics decided to buy it from Relativity, and part of that deal was that it had to get a wide release since Relativity promised one. Sony Classics had no idea what to do with it (remember, this is the company known for releasing Son of Saul and Still Alice aka Oscar friendly prestige), so it bombed terribly. I only remember this because they realized how bad it was bombing and tried to make a viral video with Tonya Harding that...well...see for yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWGdrr1qBcA

I love inside baseball stuff. Can't see why SPC picked this one up; their line-up is almost entirely prestige stuff. Then again they did also pick up John Krasinski's The Hollars at this year's Sundance, and that one got very mixed reviews. Topical: Its trailer just came out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDm-hMnvB44

I love the guy in Whiplash and Spectacular Now, but I get some serious bro-douche vibes from him. Like, if him and Adam Devine were in a movie together they might as well just directly release it to frat-houses. Teller and Jonah Hill is bad enough. And speaking of movies and frat-houses, here's a movie that stars Nick Jonas and James Franco that looks terrifyingly realistic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS8pgKoibx0
