I would think lizardmen would be a bigger draw than elves, but skaven are unquestionably the biggest army yet to be implemented. They will undoubtedly be saved to headline one of the big standalone releases.

Maybe if only Warhammer fans bought the games but Elves are such a big deal comparatively for more 'mainstream' players that I really doubt lizardmen would be more popular.

He's mad anyway, Lizardmen were always a solid mid-tier army but there's shitloads of elves everywhere you look in tabletop. Dark and High Elves are a way bigger draw then lizards even though the latter are objectively cooler. Gonna stomp some dudes with Stegadons yeaaaah

Never played the miniatures but I did play a product called Warhammer: Diskwars and High Elves were my favorite in that because no matter what strategy you went with it always boiled down to "be a tremendous dick wad to the other player and deny them any satisfaction".

What I'm saying is that if they implement High Elves in a manner that is at all faithful to their tabletop motif then they will quickly rocket to the #1 most hated faction in multiplayer.

To gain bonuses as the High Elves you must call your rival and do awful accents, as described in the official rules for Warhammer Fantasy: Age of Sigmar ®.

Even without, a major part of Skaven's sales were when they were ridiculously broken in 7th edition, and the fact that you had to buy twice as many boxes for them as for any other faction. Even then, when polled there are more High Elf players than their are Skaven players, High elves being just behind the top three of Chaos, Orcs and Empire. Despite common internet sentiment, a lot of players just don't like the little vermin.

Elves were broken as gently caress in 8th edition. That drove a lot of their sales.

They've been one of their biggest sellers since as long as I've played, that being 5th edition including 6th when they were by far, categorically the weakest faction in the game. I think you can thank/blame Tolkien for that.

Yeah, elves were definitely always popular across the editions, but they waned and waxed as their books got worse/better. 8th was basically nothing but elves by the end.

Fangz posted:

Todbringer is currently in game as the count of Middenland, it would be weird if he was added to the Empire.

It ought to be possible to add him in as a new lord that starts there.

I mentioned it way back in the thread but each of the Elector Count factions/provinces of the Empire have some unique buildings that they rarely build. It may just only be Talabecland, but they have a temple type different from Sigmar worship.

Regardless, if this update adds units for the other factions I can't see it not being worth it for the price it's at.

Megasabin

I get half!!
I get that it would increase the cost to add the more unique units to DLC races, but man does that raise the stakes on which races they decide to put in as DLC vs. Sequel games. They cut 3 of the most interesting units from the Beastman army, so in the future you better hope the races you like are full expansion races rather than just DLC add ons.

I can't wait to see the rage when Tomb Kings are relegated to a DLC faction with a lot of copy-paste-reskin from Vampire Counts, and are missing some of their cooler unique units.

Man, Vermintide put in a lot of work for the Warhammer franchise. Nobody who wasn't already hardcore into the tabletop gave one flipping poo poo about Skaven before. Now they are possibly the most hotly anticipated faction.

I didn't realize that Vermintide was that popular. I thought it was just another niche game like Mordheim.

You can tell because there a lot of people who know basically nothing about any of the factions not already in-game except for Skaven.

Also because Mordheim is at best "ok" while most agree Vermintide is pretty good.
