Seriously cant believe that ppl are really in favor of no ports besides Lightning. It's already criminal how Apple basically sells 8GB of internal flash for $100, on top of having no SD card, and they keep trimming the battery down for no reason so they can sell you charger cases, but somehow its a good thing that now you need to buy a bunch of Apple brand bluetooth stuff or adaptor dongles just to use freaking audio output.

becuase the lightning adapter will be connected to the headphones in practice, nothing will change for my use case it'll be annoying if they don't include an adapter though

Im betting the headphones are going to be super uncomfortable with a thick rear end lightning spec cable instead of your typical hair-thin 3.5mm cables where the sheathing is the biggest part

Or they will bundle bluetooth headphones and the iPhone prices will rise another $100, except the headphones are extremely bad $20 amazon pair quality and will break constantly and have horrible battery life

It's 2 things, headphones and a charger that everyone and their mom have and use regularly. "Progress" will instead make people carry around some kind of y-adaptor, increasing the number of things to plug in. This has nothing to do with "nerds" and you have AIDS.

I bought one of the very first android telephones ever made, the HTC Magic, which had no headphone jack -- only a mini-USB port. You needed to use a little bundled adapter for headphones, just like what Apple is purportedly going to do. it loving sucked, everyone complained about it (even the spergoids and nerds who bought the first androids) and no HTC phone since has done this stupid adapter thing. but you know, Apple 2016::android 2008 so

MeruFM posted:so what was so bad about it It was just as annoying as every other dongle ever, i.e., a useless piece of hardware that should be designed out of existence if the designer's any good in this case it added weight to the end of the headphone cable, gave an extra point in the line where the thing couldn't bend, something to get hung up on your pockets as you pulled the phone in and out, if you wanted to play music at a party or car or whatever and you forgot the dongle you're out of luck, on and on also that, but that was independent of the dongle

people put up with a lot of garbage connector ideas like usb A being symmetrical outside and asymmetrical inside. people hate it when things don't work after plugging them in though. if that was the main complaint about the android dongle, then the comparison is invalid.

There's a lot of insanely cheap and bad Android phones on the market so its not the worst. But it's basically a windows phone with a worse UI somehow and more apps. Also you pay twice the price for a logo and increasingly worse battery life every generation Its not like this is the iPod days where it really is the best product on the market when most other MP3 players don't even have pixel displays and use lovely (compared to today) flash memory.

android is still very bad. my favorite thing is that on the nexus 5x, a "small" android phone, it is impossible to reach touch targets on the upper left/right when holding the phone one handed because even a small android is bigger than the iPhone 6 also there's no reachability to bring it down android is a mess! sad!

Personally I think maybe an inch or two wider than the non-Plus iPhone screen size is ideal... My sausage thumbs cannot stretch much further than that. And I'll be damned if I'm using my phone with two hands without a stylus.

4" is far too small given how phone usage evolved and Apple waited too long to introduce reasonably sized phones, losing craploads of market share. Get over it.
