- having a secondary stream for the second biggest game when people are qualifying for top 32 doesn't seem like a stretch for the second biggest game of the tourney. SFV has a dedicated stream running all weekend as well as spots on other streams, this evening they will be running on 3 streams simultaneously
- friendlies are def something everyone wanted but when you have people who were playing literally all day after traveling, grabbing a few setups to finish up matches and get everyone rested is reasonable. Especially since a large chunk of those 2662 people are going to be watching the matches instead of playing anyway. I'm talking about taking maybe 4-8 more of those 32 setups to finish things before midnight, not go up and unplug people's poo poo while they're playing.
- everything else about the tourney is also inconveniencing them. The no projectors thing I talked about meant people had to crowd around small tv screens to watch these matches. The poo poo time means these people who paid their own way are gonna be done with the tourney they came for in like 3 hours. Having a small lovely room at the venue makes them feel much less welcome for next year.

Seriously, everything about smash 4 at Evo seems like such a spiteful shitshow you're not going to convince me that they were doing something for anyone's benefit instead of just brushing off any smasher that tried to talk to them about any of these issues

From what I heard a lot of people didn't like Smash 4 getting passed up for Melee on the schedule, plus problems with getting matches on stream IIRC. A friend of mine is big into Smash 4 and was complaining about it.

That guy is an imbecile. Half of his complaints are subjective, the other half is poo poo every other game has to deal with because EVO is still mostly run by volunteers.

The issue with Smash 4 at EVO was that there was extremely little time between pools on Day 1 and Top 32 the following day, leaving everyone else left to compete get very, very few hours of sleep (Ally, the winner of the tournament, was running on 1.5 hours of sleep), and for no real reason there's less setups for them to use for the tournament and thus they had to rush to get everything done before Top 32 on Day 2. It's incredibly baffling considering Smash 4 has the 2nd highest amount of entrants and inconveniencing the entrants like this does nothing for no one.
