You've got guts! Come to my village, I'll buy you lunch.
i will never take competitive mode seriously as long as matches are longer than quick play

maybe if i had a team of six regulars to play with at all times but until that happens the ability to have teams shuffled early and often is far too important

There's no reason not to play competitive unless the match times are too long for your current session. You might as well get the reward and the competitive points for a stupid golden gun. That's what I tell myself to fight my ranked anxiety. All my friends are higher ranked than me and whenever we play together we always lose and I get blamed despite having a good performance. I solo queue almost exclusively due to that.

I think what ended up happening with McCree was that, after the nerf, people could finally play Roadhog again, and the data revealed that Roadhog does McCree's theoretical job (an anti-flanker and general pick maker) perfectly while also being vastly more counterable than a good McCree. I'm personally fine with McCree being the midrange hitscan specialist, but they need to figure out something to do with FtH, given that it is both a poor fit for his new role and totally useless a good 80% of the time.

I think it's ok for it to be a 20% of the time useful specialist tool. Plus, it does some terrifying things if you're Ana ultimated.

Same. I don't care if they give more points towards another level, it's not worth it when KOTH can be a full five-game set that feels like it's dragging on forever. It's enough to make you want to leave when KOTH is selected instead of payload pushing.

I mean 90% of the time I'm solo queuing anyway so there's basically no reason for me to not play competitive unless time is a factor

edit: what jackdarko said. Ironically, the 10% of times I am grouped up we play quickplay so we don't have to worry about armchair commanders leaping down each other's throats.

Could they not give you tips? Also wouldnt you drag down the matchmaking your share so it your friends brought you they'd face easier teams?

No, they don't offer constructive criticism. We're usually a 3 man group, they refuse to play as a unit preferring to solo flank. Due to that the 3 man group we are usually placed against does coordinate, typically stacking their ults very well. Our group usually wins KOTH due to the nature of their layout preventing my friends from venturing too far from the team. I don't play with them anymore and I don't want to drag any goons down so I solo queue.

Sincerely,

A Rank 40 player.

I think you'd be fine with goons. There are a bunch around that level. Just communicate and ask how you can help better. That's probably true of all skill levels though. I'm only 44 and no one has given me grief about it.

This is what I was saying earlier. I'm not saying Pharaoh should be able to fly with impunity and you should always seek cover and be smart with the jump jets. But with these changes it seems its bad for Pharah to fly AT ALL. Its almost a complete shut down of the hero if the other team is paying attention.

I will say that McCree seems a WEE bit strong now maybe just because of the meta or something. A lot of games now he's just chillin way far away and dropping 100 dmg shots on people from a distance they simply can't return fire. Which is the role of a sniper sure, but he has a lot more sustain and utility outside of that role. I feel like they should definitely increase his dmg at range, but I Think its still a bit high up there for as much punishment he can dishout. Maybe put his falloff somewhere close to 76's.

I really liked the idea of an anti flanker in McCree but he's turning into an anti everything at this point simply because of the damage he can do at ALL ranges.

yea I'm totally fine with bo5 koth but time bank on the 2cp maps is just awful

it feels like such a waste of time to lose after 4+ rounds of time bank. at least koth maps have 3 different areas to play on, rather than just doing the exact same thing every round

How far forward does D.Va's barrier extend? Or, put another way, can I stand a ways behind a teammate and expect the barrier to cover them without my fat mech blocking their view?

The D.Va barrier change is pretty great, I'm actually paying attention to things like clip size/reload time for pharahs and reapers now for it.

That's the best part about playing Rein, you almost always have a sworn enemy. And actually outplaying that enemy gives your team a huge advantage, unlike two Tracers battling it out in some distant corner or something like that.

pre nerf, fan the hammer did 70 damage per shot and fired 6 times

that's 420 damage (widow's fully charged headshot does like 350 for comparison), ie zarya is dead if every hit lands and basically everyone but roadhog dies to the one fan plus a regular hit. it also completely invalidates reaper. it doesn't matter if you can't do it twice in a row fast, that's too much damage

Well poo poo, didn't recall it being so gnarly. So slight damage reduction plus a cool down, even a really short one. Nearly every other character has a limit to their secondary attacks, just never understood why his didn't when you don't even need to wait for a reload if you roll

This is the big problem I have with mccree. I found this youtube video, because I like to listen to opiniony Overwatch stuff while I work, and his suggestion for aiming practice is great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFIritvrMxY

The short of it, for those of you who don't want to waste your time watching some rando on Youtube:

* Skirmish mode custom game
* vs 6 Anas
* With 200% damage
* With headshots only

Because Ana can't headshot, you can just safely practice aiming without worrying about dying. I'm excited to get some real aiming practice without stinking up teams with my potato aim.
