Half their audience is old people who just want to see Mary bring her old-woman wisdom into the lives of younger people, and the other half just want to be snarky, and that's gone now. GONE!

I get that this is probably just the new writer writing out the dumb plots of the last writer, but what was this mobster's plan here? He sent a guy known to be an artwork forger to go buy paintings for him. This seems like like the dumbest move anyone could do.

Dear Greg Evans, please take note, here we have a protagonist who is facing consequences from some of their long-running character-flaws, and while we feel bad for them, they get a chance to learn and grow beyond the confines they existed in before.

Rather than every action of theirs being nothing but praiseworthy, and drama being drawn from a pool of sitcom cliches, and 2d villains, the conflict they face is real and difficult. This is what writers who are not complete hacks do with very similar teen-girl gag-a-day strips.

I'd be inclined to agree with your admiration if this story arc weren't about a tween psychiatrist specifically and intentionally designed as a perfect foil to Hil shutting her down at every turn by saying this is real life, not some comic strip, maaaan

As anticipated, Brad is stepping into a “fatherly” role to take care of Shannon’s needs. I am happy Greg is showing this role for Brad. It is not the first time Greg has shown us this interaction…. but this instance is perhaps the most powerful one so far.

I still think it is very unfortunate for Shannon to have had that garish makeup applied by Tiffany. I know she meant well, but it just harkens up in me all the images about those horrific shows that show how some parents exploit their children through overtly “adult” portrayals in dance competitions, pageants, etc.

I still also hope that when Jonah receives his “comeuppance” for his abandonment of Shannon at this time (or at least being overly late)…. that it is out of earshot and vision of Shannon.

Jonah is a drat “flake” but he is Shannon’s father, and no one should denigrate him in front of Shannon…. even if the talking to is warranted (like here). It would be too emotionally conflicting for Shannon.
