If you wanna shoot some guns? gently caress YES. Shooting guns is fun as hell. Shoot many guns, big guns, fast guns, small guns. It's really fun. But anyone who tells you you need it for self-defense or home defense is, generally, wrong. Unless you live on a farm or a ranch with a lot of property, in which case having a shotgun to shoot into the air to scare people off might be advisable. Never, ever for pointing at anyone though.

I was going to spend my night cleaning up, but am now looking at gun fatality, violence, etc. studies. Thanks volcat. Edit: Fun fact that I cannot remember where I heard it but I'll check on it - I think you're statistically more likely to use that gun to kill yourself or accidentally kill a family or friend than you are to use it to defend yourself.
