Someone also dug up a new passive vortex ability named "Squigs Gone Wild" that got added with the patch so that's a thing.

Are you literally whining about free stuff because they labelled it pretty much anything at all that indicates what it is? What the hell would you want to call it?

I'm pretty sure CA calls it Free-LC on all their marketing stuff. I just double checked their blog about the plans for upcoming content and they explicitly call it such.

So a cool thing I noticed. Every beastman unit gets a passive speed buff above wavering morale, which means all the units are effectively faster than their base stats would indicate. For example, Centigors, with the buff, have only one point less of speed than pistoliers. If they get close enough to start a charge animation, they can and will run them down. It also means all of their infantry can chase down routing units post-battle

So I keep trying to get through the dlc campaign but the skull takerz show up and then when I end the turn it cycles through AI, comes to them, and crashes. I guess I'm going to have to disable mods until I figure out the cause.

Anyone else run into an issue where Karl Franz knows exactly where you are, and immediately abandons the Empire so he can hunt you down in Estalia? It's not really a big deal for me, thanks to the Beastmen ambush stance, it just seems really odd that Franz hates Beastmen more than anything else.

^ Karl Franz is a gigantic rear end in a top hat. He pulled that on me in my chaos game. I wound up playing benny hill with Franz in the chaos wastes as he tried to kill my fledging second horde on like turn 10.StarMinstrel posted:My brain. I think it's worth noting that the Beastmen's giant and chaos spawn are both more powerful than their normal chaos brethren. Beastmen Giants have +12 melee attack, +10 charge bonus and no forest penalty. Beastman Chaos spawn have poison attacks and no forest penalty, but have -30 weapon strength. Look forward to seeing if how they play differently. It wold be cool if they could differentiate between Beastman trolls/Giants and chaos trolls/Giants like this too, they already look different Truecon420 fucked around with this message at 21:45 on Jul 28, 2016 |

How do you get your Beastman grand campaign off the ground? I'm at turn 30 and I'm still barely building anything because I can't afford a drat thing. Razing the capitol of Estalia gives you like 2k loving gold. I'm straight up broke constantly.

Beat the mini-campaign on very hard in about 4-ish hours. Unfortunately you don't get anything for the ultimate campaign victory that you don't also get for the long campaign victory. I also like how they added wyverns and a pegasus and other assorted flying critters on the campaign map. Fresh Shesh Besh fucked around with this message at 22:47 on Jul 28, 2016 |

How after several months of it being released can this not run on a newer system? I'm not the only person, too. Just CTDs all over the place so bad that it doesn't create a crash_report. Is it Windows 10 issues? Because I can't think of a single other reason it's this bad.

Someone mentioned it already before but beating the mini-campaign unlocks Todbringer as a general for custom games and multiplayer. So what I mean is this happens regardless of which conditions you complete. I doubt that counts as spoilers but whatever.

Overcasting Devolve is pretty wicked, it's almost like Fate of Bjuna that can affect multiple units in a huge AoE. Casting it into a melee feels just plain mean and it's a great way to open a Beastman Ambush since it kills models right off the bat and wrecks elites and chaff just the same.
|
# ? Jul 28, 2016 23:01 |
Had a great opening to the mini-campaign where both Carroburg armies managed to track me down, but I pulled out a decisive victory. Clearing out the Greatswords and killing off one of the armies was a huge boost in tempo.

I really like how many Vanguard Deployment units the Beastmen have, it makes the battle dynamic so different from other factions. Also it feels like it makes fighting manually much better than autoresolve, I've got so many decisive victories out of supposedly 50/50 matchups.

cheese posted:Ahhhh ok I think I'm razing too many cities then. What are the go to units? I feel lost when picking between the Centigor/Razor herd/Minotaur buildings. You'll get a surprising amount of mileage out of Ungor Raiders throughout the early and mid game, they're dirt cheap and do good work. Otherwise Minotaurs and Centigors are really your go-to units. Minotaurs demolish basically everything they come in contact with and Centigors are good fast cav with vanguard so they'll do reliable work picking off artillery, missile units, and cleaning up fights. In retrospect, the infantry building isn't worth rushing upgrades for. You get various flavors of light infantry with vanguard but aside from being cheap fodder they don't count for much. Good early game but there's a steep fall-off when fighting real armies, even for Gors. Always build the regular Gors btw, shielded Gors give up Vanguard which is in no way a good trade. Bestigors can't vanguard and take three turns to recruit (You can build Greatweapon Mino's and Axe-thrower Centigors in two turns.) so I don't find them actually that useful. Basically just get some archers early, build up a pile of expendable trash infantry and then supplement them with Bulls/Centaurs as soon as you can manage.

Was just comparing unit stats in custom battle, and the beastmen seem to have really lovely infantry. Even the ones without vanguard deployment compare badly to their orc equivalents. Bestigors are pretty alright compared to black orcs cost for cost, but the rest are poo poo. Also noticed that beastmen giants are better for the same cost than orc and chaos giants, which is a good bonus. Their chaos spawn have 30 less weapon damage in exchange for poisoned attacks, which might be good if it means surviving longer. Seems to me like centigaurs and minotaurs are the only real stand out units though. Edit: Didn't account for primal fury, that evens things out a bit I guess.
