  e: I've been having some problems with this Canon 50mm 1.8 STM (the supposed 'new' version of the nifty 50). The autofocus is off. So I autofocus (the outer ring in AF is rubbish and won't target anything at all) and even the centre AF is wrong. Looks fine through the viewfinder but the image is out of focus, seems to focus closer than it claims. It's fine because MF is easy enough to use on this little lens, anyone else had the same problem? I had the 50 1.8 ii a few years ago and never had any problems with it. When I use MF it sounds like it's fighting against the focusing motor (?, mechanism?) inside the lens. Maybe i got a dud?
