in gen 4 i caught like 3 or 4 boxes full of nosepass and i gave them all unique nicknames, they were all my friends if i can do that then everyone can nickname the pokemon they catch imo

So are these Alola forms only applied to Pokémon caught specifically in the region or will any old Sandshrew banked over from previous games suddenly turn crystalline? Also, crystal Onix please.

If you catch it in the new game, it's the new form. If you caught it in the old game, it's the old form. When breeding, the form is hereditary.

It only applies to the ones caught in Alola. A Sandshrew brought over from another region is the only way to get a normal Sandslash, even.

I really liked that Zoroark never took off, like a friend once ranted about how Lucario was "fake popular" because of its push but even today it's still popular outside of competitive stuff because it was a popular mon while Zoroark got the exact same treatment and was never as popular as Lucario, to the point where a main selling point of B2W2 was that Riolus were readily available.

Admittedly my first exposure to Lucario was in SSBB but I do still just like it for some reason. It also gets more consistently pushed and the ways that it is pushed are better. Zorua got a movie and some hype about how it was going to have an exclusive move that was super hard to get and wow isn't that going to be cool. And then we got Snarl on a fast but fragile dark type.

Fun fact: nicknaming pokemon and giving them to your friends is the best. I named a torchic oval office and gave it to my friend and it turned out to be one of his best pokemon. (Later on it bred another torchic when he gave to me. He named it cunty)
