We take 6'4 Mike Smith. He had a fantastic 5v5 save percentage last year in limited minutes (5th in goalies with 1000+ minutes) and I'm hoping for the same type of play, if not quite at that level obviously. He'll play mentor / 1B for Hellebucyk through this season until Connor is ready to take 60 starts, and we'll move him if he doesn't want to transition to a backup after that. He makes a lot but we have lots of cap room. He also doesn't have a NMC this season so we don't need to protect him.

This would bother me more if I didn't have Connor and a dumb gimmick. I think Smith highlights how bad that Rinne pick was though. Smith is basically Rinne without the hype or the NMC (he isn't that good). Anyway here is my team, almost. I'll take Scott Wilson because yinzers seem to be convinced he's going to be Crosby's LW at least some of next season. He looked fine in what little I saw of him last season before his injury. That gives me- Rieder - Monahan - Tarasenko Nash - Staal - Pominville C.Wilson - Soderberg- S. Wilson Roussel - Blandisi - Jurco Maatta - Jones De Haan - Parayko Zadorov - Marincin Gibson Hutchinson

Don't know why, but I really like my team now Jonathan Huberdeau - Brayden Schenn - Jordan Eberle Kyle Turris - Mikko Koivu- Bobby Ryan Thomas Vanek- Calle Jarnkrok- Ryan Spooner Daniel Carr - Brett Connolly- Shayne Gostibehere - Johnny Oduya Cam Fowler - Francois Beauchemin Zach Bogosian - Trevor Van Riemsdyk Mikhail Sergachev Carey "loving" Price Malcolm "not PK" Subban So basically need a solid veteran D to spot duty here and there, and maybe a good grit guy for the fourth line and a prospect or two up front. Got a well equilibrated offence, 3 lines that can score, and the d is serviceable, even with some Sportgame guys in there. Don't need more than serviceable when you've got Carey Price. Oh and I need a coach. Who speaks French. This should be interesting.
