Voyager I posted:I played a homebrewed UW Spirits list at Modern last night and ended up going 2-1, taking down 2-0s against Jund and Abzan Company while getting hosed by Bushwhacker Zoo. It basically feels like a worse version of UR Delver or Faeries that trades speed and consistently good cards for tricky interactions. Moorland Haunt seems like the reason to use Spirits over any other tribal deck, that land is incredible gas as long as you have a way to reliably fuel it.

Has anyone here had experience with the bant retreat deck that got 8th & 9th at Baltimore? It looks rad, like abzan company with a less consistent combo but a better fair game.

Snacksmaniac posted:McMagic, what's the ol zooicide SB look like for you now? Are you going to pack any more gy hate? So this weekend I had zero GY hate in the board, played against Dredge once and lost but it was a weird match where I didn't draw Death's Shadow either game and he was also playing Bolts in the deck which he top decked to beat me off a 3rd redraw when I had a Nacatl attacking for like 17 or something so IDK if it would've helped. I think I just want to be killing them fast. Ross's deck is going to be the list people play and that has virtually zero removal and blocks awfully so I'm going to try to warp my board to beat it. I think the matchup is fine as it is. Someone recommended Postmorten Lunge to me and it was in my board on Saturday but I didn't play against Jund or Jeskai to bring it in. Ended up losing a win and in to Folk because he had a MB Vaper Snag (which I thought wasn't popular now) and that blew me out. FWIW I played Infect yesterday and that deck is a hoot and a half too. Turn 2 kills are a thing in modern. I lost the mirror to the best player in the room Osyp L and to the UW Control deck that I thought was a good matchup but turned out horrible... IDK I don't have enough experience with the deck. mcmagic fucked around with this message at 14:56 on Aug 15, 2016 |

I have an extra spot I'm going to try the postmortem lunge tonight. I currently have one cage, which I think is fine with all the cantrips.

I'm ting to see if a UB or Grixis delve-emerge deck can work in modern. Turn 2 tasigur/angler into turn 3 elder deep fiend on their upkeep seems pretty good. I'm curious as to if it can actually work.

Played a fun twist on a normal deck tonight at modern fnm: Nahiri Control with 4 swans of Bryn Argoll and 2(? Don't have the decklist on hand) Seismic Assault. 3 main deck Angers of the Gods. When everything came together, the value was magical

I've got 2 Engineered Explosives in my Jund sideboard because I'm expecting a lot of Suicide Zoo decks at GP Indy. Is the matchup here good enough where I can get away with cutting one for something else? I'm running 2 K-Command mainboard but I'd like to run a second Ancient Grudge in the sideboard to shore up games 2 and 3 vs Affinity.

I'm liking him in Jund so far; but I think it's going to be meta dependent at times. Overall I'm happy; but he's competing for slots with Scavenging Ooze, and with dredge being a thing, that's a question mark. That said, I'd pick it up to see how you like it. He's not exceptionally expensive
