Not even finished with Ka's new album but he is by far the best lyricist out. The production has been more interesting than previous stuff as well.

This is fantastic, I paid a dollar for it.

Also, gently caress Apple Music / iTunes. It's a horrible, bloated, feature-lacking piece of poo poo that is like a parasitic monster once you put it on your computer. You can't actually buy music for it, well you can but just for your itunes, to use with your apple stuff that you presumably (better) have. If I pay full price for music I should be able to just get a straight mp3 download without a bunch of bullshit attached. Bandcamp / other reasonable alternatives are worlds better.

Also, as far as pc audio players, musicbee is the poo poo. Tons of really great skins that look fantastic, plenty of customizable options, fast, etc.

On Android, I use google play music which will recognize the music on your phone or microsd card and also has streaming songs / radio

iTunes is a resource hog, but everything you're writing about the store is at least 7 years out of date.

Anyone watching "The Get Down?" It's Baz Lurhman, so even the grit looks glitzy, but it's not pretending that that any of these folks were successful in their time or even legendary beyond a small but strong cult.

The reality of the situation is Young Thug is not going to be "Young Thug" anymore. His new name is going to be "No My Name Is Jeffery". "No, My Name is Jeffery". That's his new name. And the reality is, when you see this commercial, you're all going to understand what we do here at 300. Because it's powerful images of what makes someone Young Thug and what the evolution and how someone is Jeffery. It's a circular thing, it's important. "No, My Name is Jeffery" is on it's way. That is possible. My last experience with it involved trying to put some music and videos on my girlfriend's iphone. So I had to install itunes, and it was a horrible experience overall. I'm used to having a bit more control over how things are done maybe.

I posted in the last thread asking for stuff similar to OFWGKTA - Rella, but I didn't really know what I liked about it (got some nice suggestions anyway). Now that I have a better idea I thought I'd ask for some rap rec's again :)

I still like the noisy/chaotic production of Rella, and especially the 'drive' which I think is what made me like it at a point where I heard a lot more rock, but I've also gotten fond of some rap I think approaches the trap genre? I'm not so comfortable with rap genres so feel free to correct me.

Some examples:
A$AP Rocky M's, Multiply
Here I really like the 'deep' production and generally dark vibe. I don't mean deep in any personal or intellectual capacity btw, just in terms of tonality.

Tyler, The Creator What the gently caress Right Now, The Brown Stains of Darkeese Latifah Part 6-12 (REMIX).
Here I just love the really noisy, chaotic approach - songs like Cherry Bomb and Pilot do this too, but I linked a timestamp in the latter song which I think is pretty indicative of what I like about Tyler.
There's also something about What The gently caress Right Now I don't know how to describe, it's a bit like it's all an echo or distorted - an auditive equivalent of films that are filmed through a grainy or colored filter - which I kinda like. I guess it's a type of compression?

Aesop Rock Mystery Fish, Saturn Missiles
These songs just have amazing pace/drive and I love how the beat alternates and progresses behind lyrics that maintain the same pace (with some outliers like when Aesop stops).

I wish I could say something about rap and flow that I like but I don't quite understand it, I'm sorry if that part is all over the place; for example I feel like I should like Waka Flocka but I don't and I can't tell why vOv

Anyone got any suggestions where to go? :)

Check out Flatbush Zombies, ASAP Ferg, maybe also some Spaceghostpuurp stuff for songs similar to the sound of the A$AP stuff. Lucki Eck$ too. Also check for Rocky's earlier albums. Doppelgangaz also got a real dark sound.

The first Tyler song you posted is actually him rapping over a Kanye song. Check out "The Life of Pablo", and also "Yeezus". May like those. Also maybe check out this mixtape http://www.datpiff.com/weet-Abracadabra-mixtape.325241.html .

Aesop really wears his influences on his sleeve production wise. Check out pretty much everything El-P has done (his solo albums, Cannibal Ox's first album, Company Flow, Run the Jewels).

That should be good for a start at least, if you want more ask. Also I'm sure some other folks will have some stuff to add.

Also the new Atmosphere album is surprisingly good. Been a nice year for some older dudes making good music.

I think so. I agree that at least the last album was a snoozefest. The productions got a bit more pep and slug doesn't sound as old and (re)tired.

I used to love Atmosphere, but also didn't like the last one. This one's better, the production is tighter. It definitely does not have a modern sound, it could be late 90s easy. But if you like slug's style, I think it's pretty good
