the Florida Panthers select center Peter Holland with their final draft choice. he is at the least a reliable center who can slot in on the 4th line or bump up to the 3rd and hold his weight even if a little shakily. his 5v5 points production has been solid and he is a positive at shot suppression even if it's not a big one.

Mike Hoffman - Matt Duchene - Anthony Duclair
David Perron - Martin Hanzal - Michael Frolik
Phillip Di Giuseppe - Mikael Backlund - Sven Andrighetto
Reid Boucher - Brendan Gaunce - Sam Gagner
(Jiri Tlusty - Peter Holland)

Victor Hedman - Damon Severson
Hampus Lindholm - Josh Manson
Jake McCabe - Alexei Marchenko
(Nate Schmidt)

James Reimer
Darcy Kuemper

Alain Vigneault

I feel like I have great depth and if the young guys I have wouldn't be able to stay afloat, Holland and Tlusty are good players to rotate in and at least demonstrate some competence in the bottom six. All of those forwards seem good at moving the puck and good at transitioning between zones with the puck. I have two of the top 10 D-men in the league and I filled out the rest of that group with dudes who are going to be top 4 or better for the next few years. the stats on Reimer suggest that he is a good+ goalie who has spent his seasons getting crushed under the unbearable pressure of playing behind the Toronto Maple Leafs defense, and Kuemper is a reliable backup who is about to hit his peak. Doctor Vigneault will be diagnosing cases of red face and deploying these players in their most favorable situations, and my team has no worthless plugs for him to become deeply, stalkerishly infatuated with. I am under the cap floor for the moment but once Hampus signs an extension that will be fixed.\

To sign them is my real test

With full no movement clause
Because I got sniped on Tommy Wingels, I need to fulfill my homer lust, while also filling a bottom-6 C/RW hole, so the Sharks select Austin Czarnik

Jaskin-Crosby-Nyquist
Kreider-Larkin-Sharp
Zucker-Nelson-Brown
Clifford-Shore-Gerbe
(Czarnik)

McDonagh-Martinez
Pouliot-Garrison
Merrill-Pesce
(Forbort)

Howard
Hutton
(Demko)

Blashill

Would just need to sign another forward for depth; or two and send Czarnik down to the AHL for a year, then pray that he's more of a middle-6 than bottom-6 and then he can slot in for Sharp if I can't re-sign him at a reasonable cost, or bump Nelson into the top-6/Brown down in Gerbe/Clifford's spot and get him on that 3rd line.

Also hoping that Forbort is ready for legit NHL minutes, or he'd need to go down too for a year and I'd have to sign whatever lovely scrap heap D man is left for the 7th role

My top line has Crosby, and my other 3 lines have a decent center and at least one really fast guy to put pressure on the other team. All three of my defense pairings are likely solid yet unspectacular and, with the exception of Merrill, all of them should be good puck movers. My goalie situation is really just hoping that Demko is a legit goalie of the futute and hopefully finding a new home for Howard as soon as next year, though I don't feel that he and Hutton are an unreasonably bad tandem. And unless I'm reading the expansion rules wrong, Demko won't have enough pro time to need protection? So Howard's NTC shouldn't be an issue for me.

My problem is that Shore, Czarnik, and Pouliot are all RFA next year, and Larkin, Nelson, Zucker, Jaskin, Pesce, Forbort, and Merrill are all coming up the year after :pwn:

Good thing I'm $14M under the cap :ohdear:

Looks like I need a coach

with my final selection, I will select a coach who knows what it takes to win in Montreal. Who knows what it takes to lead in Montreal. Who knows what it takes to lift Lord Stanley. He even knows a few words of French, but can get away with not being fully fluent as he is a hero in this city.

Boeser has already committed to going back to UND for 2016-17.

I'll take Jonas "THE MONSTER" Gustavsson as my backup because yeah he can sit on a bench and open and close a door well.

I'll take Mike Kitchen as my head coach. He's been Quenville's protege forever, and aside from a couple seasons coaching the garbage Blues, he's never really been given a shot as a bench boss. He'll bring the style of play I want my team to emulate, and hopefully find a bit more success than he did in his first go round.

And thus your 2016-17 Blue Jackets

Skinner-Kopitar-Coyle
Domi-Horvat -Okposo
Bailey-McCann-Kassian
Paul-Vatrano-Stewart

Scratches/AHL: Copp, Compher

Brodie-Edler

Anyway fear my HF ranking:

1. Provorov
2. Connor
3. Rantanen
4. Dubois
5. Schmaltz
6. Boeser
7. Tkachuk
8. Juolevi
9. Santini
