Do any of you spec into your elite but not use the elite weapon?

I've done so with Reaper as an experiment and, if Greatsword wasn't so goddamn good, I'd stick with it. Condition/Minion Reaper is a lot of fun.

I usually don't use warhorn on Tempest. Mainly because in open-world content/bosses and fast-paced groups, the range and power of staff can't be beat.

If I'm soloing in a deserted area, though, where I'm unlikely to run into help, I'll throw dagger/horn or dagger/focus on.

Welcome to the light side!
I like to stay in avatar only very briefly. I'll just do 3-4 then pop out. Very helpful against melee pressure since the daze from 3 will let you get a good chunk of 4 uninterrupted.
It's usually enough heals and you didn't heavily drain it so it will more then likely be available off cooldown.

How's Power Druid? I 80 boosted a Ranger a bit ago and set him up with Berserker gear, but I know Condi Druid is pretty popular, too.

I should probably play my Ranger a bit more, actually. I really like what I've played so far.

While all the avatar abilities are actually good, its kinda a trap. The strongest part is the stunbreak/condition cleanse when you enter and stealth/super speed when you leave and you want to have that as often as possible, so normally you just switch into avatar, press 3 for the quick heal and switch out, so you have it available when it comes off cooldown 10sec later. The 4 has some good uses in teamfights, since its a water field and the 5 is great to cleave around downed enemies, but both are situational.

Power Druid is the strongest roaming class right now. Super mobile, durable, 2-3 different ways to stealth on a short cooldown, 1200 range, decent damage and good burst. Take a staff, grab yourself smokescale and bristleback pets and go to town.

There's an item you buy that gives your account bonus XP in Bloodstone Fen. It is, additionally, a great place to farm events for XP.

I've been trying out different builds for my ranger and my necro. For the ranger, I took druid and tried the glyph buff power build, and it's been a lot of fun. The glyphs heal allies, remove conditions and apply damage buffs, all this with a low cooldown. And you can pop avatar on for a little while to do the 3-4 combo to heal AND break the defiance bar AND get a damage buff to your allies that way too!

The condition necro, however, makes me want to laugh evilly to how pathetic some of the mobs who previously have given me trouble are, even without viper gear (I'm running a combo between sinister and rampager). I run Curses, Death magic and Reaper, and use Suffer! Rise! and Poison cloud as utilities. Great fun.

Oh, Evon, you're too good for us.

I wonder if we ever have a chance of getting that Abaddon fractal that was so unfairly cheated away from us?

[tinfoil hat on]
Of course, on some level I feel like ANet rigged the election from the start, since they had obviously written the storyline to feature Ellen to win it. So there never was any plans for Abaddon fractal, since they tied Scarlet to Thaumanova as well, and as we all know, Scarlet had to be behind EVERYTHING back then. Harder to make with Abaddon. They would've had to work some time travel into it.

... actually, I'm not sure I even need the tinfoil hat, since I honestly believe that's how it went down.

Why they closed the servers with no warning:

quote:

There’s a bug in today’s release that can cause soulbound items in an inventory bag other than your first bag to become soulbound to a different character on your account. We can fix the bug with no damage done, except we can’t straightforwardly fix it if you’ve moved one of those incorrectly soulbound items into bank storage. We’ll have to work on a solution for characters in that state. To prevent additional players from getting into this state, we’re going to shut down the game servers until we can fix this bug. We apologize for this inconvenience.

I really hate Black Lion Claim Ticket weapon skins.

Like, these Bloodstone ones are definitely thematically appropriate to release right now but, like, we're in the middle of a new zone that's entirely bloodstone themed. It bugs the poo poo out of me that they passed up a great opportunity to add new weapon skins earned through actually playing the game, at a time when a new area would've been a perfect fit for those weapon skins, to add them to the Black Lion weapon pile.

It's an old complaint by now, I know, but it just feels extra obvious this time.

The worst part is that I will buy gems. I'm not opposed to the Gem Store even a little bit. I bought gems to get a Storm Bow and some more bag slots. I'm totally fine with that.

I just get annoyed at how much work goes into all these cool weapon skins only for them to be stuck behind the most boring acquisition method ever. Having unique skins on the Gem Store doesn't bug me, but having an increasingly large percentage of weapon skins behind not just the gem store, but BL Chest RNG, just rubs me the wrong way real bad.

They did this with Ambrite weapons and Auric Weapons so it isn't a new concept for them.

Meatoberfest is in full swing.
Earn gold wherever you want and buy the skins off the TP.

This is the compromise we are stuck with because there is an incredibly vocal component of the playerbase that absolutely will not participate in any part of the game that isn't the easiest gold farm (currently AB multimap and silverwastes) or whatever singular game mode they identify by, and complains when something is out of their reach because they're unwilling to extend their arms.

Rollback :arghfist:

quote:

This is an update to the situation where soulbound items have been incorrectly soulbound to the wrong characters. After further investigation we’ve determined that there is damage to almost all character records that were played this morning, not just to those who transferred soulbound items to or from a bank. To repair the damage, we will have to roll back the state of the game and characters to prior to this morning’s release.
No one wants to lose a play session’s progress. We apologize for this. I’m sure you’ll also have questions about exactly what a rollback means to you. The general answer is that everything about the game state, including things like trading post transactions, will be restored to how it was prior to this morning’s release. The only unusual case will be that if you purchased the game or purchased gems this morning, you’ll still get your purchase.
The process of rolling back and then validating everything to bring the game back up will take hours. We’ll keep you updated. There will be a period of time when these forums will be unavailable, but we’ll post updates through other channels.
