I very much enjoyed Dan Hardy making Marcus Davis so angry in the leadup to their fight that he would visibly redden whenever people asked him about Hardy in interviews, after which Davis lost a decision and then got knee-murdered by Ben Saunders

This memory lane trip made me look up Junie Browning just now. I completely forgot that he was almost murdered in Thailand. Also: as of November of 2012 he was one month sober. Wonder how that worked out.

If I am remembering correctly, Marcus davis just got embarrassed in the worst way against nate and had nothing for him, like even one flurry, and got his face bashed in until it prolapsed. And I'm 75% sure I was pulling for davis as a fellow new englander. A pox on both our houses. Hell yeah, that was ufc 118 in Boston with James loving toney and frankie dominating bj. Loved that card. Triticum Guzzler posted:has there ever been a more helpless looking performance in the modern ufc than bader/rumble? it was just sad to watch Shogun vs Jones was pretty bad. It was even worse because he was the champ and he was a significant underdog coming into that fight. I can't remember a single moment where Shogun looked effective against Jones. It was an extremely prolonged rear end whooping.

Yeah but Shogun at least tried to fight, he tried to go for kneebars and whiffing punches and such even if he was getting whooped. By that logic JDS's 25 minutes of divorce counseling from Cain were the most helpless a man has ever looked in the octagon but once again at least JDS was trying to do something, he just couldn't stop Cain's onslaught. Bader against Rumble, meanwhile, was a dude who was terrified from the moment the fight was signed until his first pitiful takedown attempt. He wanted the fight to be over as soon as possible.

So if Dan somehow wins and he's definitely still retiring what do they do with the belt? Rockhold/Weidman again? Maybe a tournament?

a mini-tournament would make the most sense to me. Weidman vs Rockhold 2 on one side of the bracket and Bisping vs Jacare on the other side. Winners fight for the vacant belt, losers fight for the #1 contender so they still have another shot at it anyway. Keep Yoel Romero around as a replacement dude.

Since it won't be a 3 way dance, I see it as Yoel vs Rockhold(probably) or Wideman(if healthy). IF Dan gets Bispinged, I figure Yoel is next for a chance at the belt. With Rockhold Vs Wideman as an eliminator.

With Rockhold Vs Wideman as an eliminator. Jacare has been winning fights while yoel has been at home trying to massage his balls into producing testosterone again. Weidman has been unhealthy so long it's hard to see where he fits into the picture but Jacare is the only one in that division who has been winning fights, except when his opponents pop for PEDS. It's definitely Jacares turn for a title shot but I wouldn't mind seeing him and Weidman in a title eliminator, I think that's a really great fight. Luke and Romero can fight each other too I guess.

Who did Romero beat last? "Looks at Wikipedia" Oh. I think Wideman and Rockhold should get title elminators because, I mean, their last fights were title losses, and I think it would be just mean for Luke to demolish Poor Weidman again.

They did a tournament way back when Pulver vacated the Lightweight belt. Then the finals was a draw and the whole thing was pointless.
