Same, and the person who check out the game was a girl. "Wow, this looks like a good strategy RPG." she said. Well if only she knew the truth. Hint, it's not. Buying my anime games from gamestop has been mostly a positive experience, only getting a complaint from a female employee about a 3DS game called Stella Glow. "Why are you buying a game with half naked girls covered in towels?" *in reference to the back of the box* The manager on duty heard that and apologized for that comment she said. You can't judge me!

I was the only person who ever bought vita games at the GameStop I shopped at so the girl who worked there tried to hard sell me on the SK games. Being a vita owner is tough, shouldering that stigma

When I bought Monster Rancher DS the Gamestop guy sung the theme song to the tv show for it when he checked me out and that's my employee-commenting-on-game-purchase story. This was like, a decade after that show even aired.

CrashCat posted:I've only seen like the beginning couple hours of the story and it wasn't like that at all I phrased it awkwardly, but I was referring to the story in Hatsune Miku Project Diva X. The plot is literally "Huh, these spheres (I forget what they're called but they're all named after a genre, like 'cute' or 'cool' or 'quirky) don't have any light...guess we should dance and sing...oh look they light up! Let's do that more!" And then you have to do five songs for each sphere plus what I guess could be called a boss medley or something, a bunch of songs strung together. And then there's like individual stories in each sphere - they formed a band in the 'cool' sphere. Very weird slice-of-life stuff. The actual rhythm bits aren't hard, literally the only problem I have with the gameplay is how the symbols are flying across the scene with a flashy-as-gently caress background (which sometimes also has symbols flashing around it) - if the symbols were just moving up or from the sides to a set location I'd be fine, but in many places I can see where the symbol is going, but not where the symbol is, and am just guessing when to press it based on the music. Works like 90% of the time though so maybe that's the point. Anyway as a rhythm game is has a surprising amount of extra poo poo in it - different combinations of accessories and costumes get you better levels of bonuses, you can give gifts to your singers to get them more 'voltage' (score) in songs, you can switch vocals I think, and singers? But I suppose that's easy to implement when you just need to change the digital modulator on the voice synthesis.
