Is ammo persistent? Like, next time you play as Tamon, will you have the same amount of ammo that you ended this level with?

It's hard to see but the Shibito Brain just looks like a normal guy? Only with the sound different? As opposed to the other new enemies which have some kind of animal parts grafted on them.
I read ahead in a guide and hearing about the Shibito Brain running away from you I was conjuring up mental images of a goofy brain skittering around on little legs

That kind of assumes that they really truly know they're immortal.

Plus another way of thinking about it is that even an immortal person probably doesn't like to be shot in the face.

I think this is the first time we more or less clearly hear a Shibito address a character.

But I can't for the life of me make out the Japanese. The warbled effect isn't that pronounced.

If they are really the commanders of the Shibito, it could be that they are hiding and running away because they want to deprive you of the tactical advantage of being able to move freely with all the Shibito knocked down when they are shot.
But that is assuming a fair amount of intelligence and it is difficult to say how intelligent the Shibito are

Sightjacking the flying and crawling shibito at the start is one of the first genuinely horrifying things I've seen from this game so far. Such a cool way to introduce new threats without meeting them first

they're called the shibito 'brain' for a reason. they're well aware that they're connected to the shibito in the area.

If I have to choose one thing that I love about Siren (and it's a hard choice), it's the monster designs. They're all unsettling corruptions that all started as a person and that are all dangerous in their own right.

As interesting as Siren 2's plot was, it never really was scary at any point, and their changed monster designs was a decent part of that.

Yeah, the monster designs in Siren 2 were both deeply unsettling and deeply hilarious. Whereas this one just has the first part. Those eyestalks on the crawlers are quite creepy.

That was one of the things in "All You Need Is Kill", the novel that provided the basis for "Live Die Repeat". The protagonist is caught up in a groundhog's loop of death, so a couple iterations in, he blows his own brains out in the hope that maybe he'll get to stop dying.

No such luck!

I thought I heard "Okaa-san," which would be "mother," but I'm not sure. If that's correct, it makes the Shibito Brains an extra level of horrifying; since we just had a scene where Tamon was wandering through his wrecked house as he looked for his mother, which could imply that it could read Tamon's mind. :tinfoil:

Just wild speculation, though. :shobon:

Yeah, I was assuming this one. The Shibito all make an obvious pained sound when you put them down. Kinda like Highlander; yeah, Duncan/Connor/insert your favorite Immortal gets back up eventually, but dying still hurts just as much as it would.

The only other death I remember was that hosed-up demonstration death on the first objective of Tamon's first level where he was trying to display why you shouldn't run across that main path... and then made it across alive and died trying to run back in.
