Possible penalty for Max, Rosberg's weekend so far...

17:25 Mercedes has opted to hand Lewis Hamilton a third fresh power unit going into this final practice session. With the team introducing an upgraded system coming into this weekend - using five of its engine development tokens in doing so - Hamilton was given two new PUs yesterday, with Nico Rosberg one. In receiving an eighth MGU-H and turbocharger, and sixth MGU-K and internal combustion engine today, it means a further 25-place penalty, but meaningless as Hamilton can drop no further back than the final row of the grid Ian Parkes So I guess Mercedes are doing what was suggested earlier in the thread.

Is there any reason for Lewis to do qualifying now?

If the interesting free practice = crap race/ crap free practice = interesting race rule is still in effect we sure are in for a good one.

Given "random grid orders, lol! Make the best teams start at the back!" was one of the dumb Bernie ideas, I doubt there'll be any traction against Mercedes deliberately starting poois from the rear.

Watch as Nico gets overconfident that Lewis is at the back of the grid and bins it into a Redbull.

Dunno if I agree with sky there, sounds like a good plan for Red Bull to get the very lovely tyre out of the way at the start - then you have more control over the race tyre when you are lighter on fuel. Also rain is forcast for the start of the race tomorrow so they won't have scrubbed a set of the good tyres for no reason for when the track dries.
