I have a Roku 4 for my 4K video needs. Works for me.

Also lmao at how many people are still excited about VR. Remember phones with 3D screens from 2011? No? trust me, they existed and were a thing.

The problem is the Maine democrat party is totally incompetent and keeps running people who can't win instead of just letting the independents have it.

VR headsets were big in 1995. A self-driving car made a cross-country trip in 1996 or 1997 under 98%+ autonomous control. Everything new is old.

imagine like you put on a VR headset and its like diarhea scat porn and like some brazillian woman hunches over and youre a few inches from her rear end and she shoots a fountain all over and at the same time your bro sprays you with a bottle of water and you jump backward and throw up but you also kinda have a boner

Best Buy has an oculus demo station, I tried it out the other day. despite my cynicism it was actually really good. by that I mean that my senses were fooled enough to believe I was in the scene, which was exciting.

I wouldn't buy one because the resolution on the display is too low and it requires a gamer PC to power it and there's no content for it yet. it will probably take apple to do it right, but I can see buying one in a generation or two.

as long as there is a country in the world that is a tax haven, apple shouldn't have to pay any taxes. you pay the taxes for the country in which they are earned, and since apple is incorporated in la-la land, they should have to pay the tax rate in la-la land, which is 3 hugs and a tickle. which is more important? the measly $14 billion in unpaid taxes or 6,000 call centre jobs for Cork, Ireland? either employ 6,000 people or build another train and "roundabouts", hmm hard choice.

quote:

Apple is planning to include iris scanning capabilities on the tenth-anniversary iPhone launching in 2017, according to a Chinese-language MoneyDJ report translated by DigiTimes. The latter website, citing supply chain sources, previously said the feature would not debut on iPhones until at least 2018.

not sure i see the point in 2 biometric unlocking things, but maybe it could work in such a way that it asks for your password a little less? like currently the iPhone will reset your login credentials every day or so and make you sign in to download or submit app reviews and things. if they could have you can your iris and keep you signed in for 2 days to a week, that would be something.

it's actually the choice between 6000 lovely jobs and a future stream of income, so the future stream is better

the real question isn't "did apple pay their taxes?" they did.

What really matter is if apple gave kickbacks to politicians to get the lowest tax rate in the EU, I'm just going to assume the answer is yes but it will never be proven.

PleasureKevin

i can't believe Apple's open letter format, the one used to smash Adobe and the FBI is being used to claim 0.005% is an acceptable tax rate.

back when i thought Apple was paying 12% tax and the issue was just that they didn't bring the money to the US, i could defend them. now Tim Cook is like "would be a shame if something were to happen to Cork, Irelands employment rate".

$14 billion is 5% of apple's cash on hand. they should pay it, then lobby Ireland and the EU to do the same to their competitors.

apple on green technology: "we want to do the right thing and if you don't like it, get out of the stock"

apple on tax evasion: "we have a judiciary responsibility to our share holders"

well this is kinda what the EU agreed to when they created the EU. the EC's problem is that ireland's tax agreement with apple apparently broke EU law

i see now the evolution of the iphone strategy

first they remove the headset jack so you have to use wireless

then they remove the buttons

then they remove the screen

then they remove the product and you pay apple money to receive a branded box full of air
