This is somehow the first military shooter from any series I've played any multiplayer for since loving around a little bit with Battlefield Vietnam forever ago, and I'm pretty awful at it, but it's fun. The novel setting is definitely why I gave it a shot, but now I'm wishing I'd played more of these games over the last decade.

I played a few rounds last night. This map is poo poo and the absolute worst choice for the beta. It has to be? Right? I liked Battlefield 4 though I have not played in a while. I loves me some Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 though I have not played that in a while either. I have no idea if I like this game or not.

Why did they make a world war 1 game with fully automatic weapons? Rifles are awesome. They could have just remade Battlefield 1942 if they wanted to do another WW2 shooter? The game is what, 12, 13 years old? It is not like a remake would be untimely. BF 1942 was great and is still highly regarded.

I hope the next one goes back to WW2 because all these modern-ish/futuristic shooters are as worn out as WW2 was back in the mid 2000s. The WW1 stuff is pretty cool but it also really feels out of place with the crazy fast gameplay pace they have going on.

I think it's probably a necessary concession to the type of game they think people want to play, but it really does make the setting feel like window dressing.

I can't tell if the issue with light tanks is that nobody is using the rocket rifle / don't know how BF works or if it seriously is a balance thing. Even when I am being engaged by AT assets I find it really easy to piss off and hide somewhere. Also, anyone that gets in a tank can repair it and that needs to be fixed. Makes more sense when only the mechanics can repair them. At the moment I feel the light tank needs to have its rof slowed down and its armor reduced noticeably. Also the howitzer variant's MG is a laser gun and I find it ridiculously dishonorable to use, needs a larger grouping, slower rof and a faster overheat.

I appreciate the fact that they added sand storms to Sinai but gently caress if it doesn't screw everyone flying a plane. If you don't immediately pull up and fly above it you're almost guaranteed to get spatial disorientation and burn a hole in the ground ... good times.

BF1 is cool beacuse you BF stuff but it has cool old timey aesthetic on it. also when you can customize your guns like BF4 i feel like a lot of people will enjoy it. The guns rn are literally the kind where you pick someones kit off the ground in BF4 and go wtf is this poo poo

Man, whoever said the Light Tank Flanker was a beast wasn't kidding. Just went five rounds as the top scorer each round, and I'm a middling player at best. There just no counter for it. As long as you stay moving, grenades and counter-tank rounds aren't really an issue, and any other vehicle has trouble tracking you and outdamaging you. And were not even out of beta, and think I saw my first cheater too. Was scoring 100+ kills a round with the intro assault gun. Seemed like all headshots every time he got me too.
