No it isn't. From official specs:

current MacBook Air: 22.7cm / 19.2cm
current MacBook: 13.1mm
current (big) iPad Pro: 6.9mm
current ASKb: 4mm

Just because the edges of the MacBooks are really thin doesn't mean the whole thing is.

The Logitech Create _seems_ nice but I prefer the Smart Keyboard (on my 9.7) because of the Smart Connector + it doesn't require being shoved into the whole case. Like, I mostly use my iPad just for reading and stuff and being able to very quickly and easily tear off the Smart Cover is aces. Then I just snap it back on for transport or typing.

Whereas the Logitech dealio is more of a "leave it on at all times" situation, making it heavier and bulkier, in which case I'd just get a laptop out.

I did that on my old Air that had 16GB and I managed to have just enough outside of wishing I had one or two more GB to download Hitman Go or something like that.
That's how I pretty much roll. I use it for reading, writing, and streaming. I'm due for a new phone whenever the 7 comes out to replace my 5S. I'll spend money on the space on the phone for using the camera and offline music for the gym.

Also, I have my iPad Pro on desk with my iMac. It's awesome having a K811 to flip between them.

A lot of the reviews mention that it's painfully easy (to the fact that it's a fault for some). It uses SC too, but I'm gonna try it out tomorrow. I got the 9.7 case from the Apple Store today, the Pro gets delivered tomorrow, and I'm going ham all day.

Hm; I dunno, I look at the pics and having to get it out of that back cover, which the SK lacks entirely, would annoy me with how many times I remove/reattach that cover during the day. Looking forward to your thoughts on it once you have everything, I really love the Pro 9.7 so much, it's like a perfect tablet/road computer in my opinion.

I've only been using the case for a few hours, but I like it a lot so far. It's easy to remove the case and everything, but I don't really see a need to yet. It has a way to use it as a tablet by just disconnecting the connector part and putting the iPad over the keyboard. Outside of that, my only real issue is that the Pencil has a slot in the case, but I don't think it's supposed to stay there while closed since it hits the screen directly. If this is actually the case, I don't know why the holder isn't fashioned elsewhere.

The keyboard commands being above the number keys is nice too, real nice. I'm not an ace keyboardist so sometimes I'll hit the lock key when I'm trying to delete some text, but it's whatever. The added weight isn't that bad, at least to me. It still feels "light" relative to whatever else you could get. My old Air case was practically made of aluminum and magnets, so the difference is staggering here. I'm sitting here writing on it now and I kinda feel like I could go on forever. The keys took maybe a second to get used to for being so close together (because the 9.7 is pretty small) but Logitech knows what they're doing and they've done whatever they did with this really well.

In short, I like it.

I just found out about astropad and it it great for photo editing! Only problem is that it is Mac only...I have an upgraded 2012 MacBook Pro but my pc is a powerhouse and I would much rather use that. Does anyone know of an alternative for pc that still lets you use the pressure sensitivity from the Apple Pencil? I have seen some options from googling but they are using Bluetooth styli rather than the pencil and I can't find info about any pc option that does support pressure sensitivity from the pencil.

Nice. I've noticed that, for bed-reading (I'm usually lying on my side and holding the iPad in one hand in portrait orientation), the bare iPad Pro is about as much as I want to hold for any length of time, so having a case I can pop off super-easily is paramount. The Smart Keyboard works great for that, though I would like something that can store the pencil too.

Don't get me wrong, it still takes some force to remove unlike, what I'm assuming is just a magnet on the Smart Keyboard.

On another note, my iPad has been doing something weird. On my Mac, I can get texts and send texts there too, but I can't mimic that on my iPad or I don't know how and where to set it up. iMessages work perfectly fine, but I don't get any texts at all.

Yeah, that's a requirement to get SMS going, your phone is the primary push service for that, not Apple's iMessages, so it has to be setup and authorized from that device.

Does anyone else own an Asus RT-N66U, and have random WiFi connection issues? The devices will show that I'm connected to WiFi, but when browsing the internet, I just get a 1/4 status bar, then a connection error message. Sometimes toggling the WiFi helps, sometimes now. My devices have been doing this since I got this router about a year ago, and its ONLY my Apple products. Even the MacBook Air I just got seems to stutter on occasion.

Its really frustrating, as everything else works fine, and I don't want to dump another $180 on a Netgear R7000 or something.

I have the RT-AC66U which I think is pretty similar. Have you tried factory resetting it? That's helped for me in the past. I also switched to the Auswrt-Merlin firmware maybe 6 months ago and it seems to have been performing better since then.

I haven't factory reset it yet, but I have power cycles it a couple times with no difference. Maybe I'll try a different firmware.

Anyone make the switch to using only an iPad as a computer? I just got a 9.7" Pro and I'm starting to realize....I don't use my Mac for much of anything anymore aside from budgeting and web browsing, which now that YNAB is web-based and iPads have useable splits screen....

The only thing that I can think of that might be an issue is printing. Has anyone done this? If so, what are you using for a keyboard case? The Logitech Create ones seem nice, but I don't like how the case is more-or-less permanently attached.

I just picked up a Apple silicone case and a Smart Keyboard. I don't know what I was expecting it to cost, but it certainly wasn't $200+. Jesus Christ. I'm using it right now, and I love how compact it is, and the keyboard is actually not too hard to type on compared to a full sized, full travel keyboard. That said...the Create will save me lots of money, have backlighting, better keys, and function keys. I just don't know how I feel about how it'll be to hold and use the iPad as a tablet with that big bulky case and keyboard that doesn't fold as nicely as the Smart Keyboard.

I've barely used my MacBook Air since getting my iPad Air 2. Pretty much the only time I need to pull it out anymore is to torrent something or use Photoshop. My wife mostly uses it for schoolwork now. If I needed to type extensively on my iPad, I'd probably get a Magic Keyboard because I like the Smart Case too much to replace it with some bulky Logitech job.

The Smart Keyboard is amazing and I haven't turned on my desktop/home computer in probably 6 months. That said, I certainly wouldn't be able to replace my work laptop with it. I unfortunately am too reliant on PowerPoint to trust only bringing it on business trips, either.

But for every aspect of 'personal computing' I rely on my iPad.

I really like Ulysses; it's like Evernote with a streamlined UI. Exports to Medium, cross-saves to the desktop version, full integration of hardware keyboards, and on and on. I use Scrivener for longform stuff, but Ulysses is my go-to whenever I need to bang out a doc at work or a blog post at home.

I'm doing this, mostly. I use an iMac at home and my iPad literally everywhere else. The hassle-free-ness of not having to lug around my laptop with its charger is amazing, the battery on the Pro is amazing, and the keyboard case, the Logitech Create is amazing. Since it's adopted the form of a laptop essentially forever, I never found a need to take it out of the case, but if I wanted to, it's a simply process of just popping it. Pencil compartment is cool too since I can choose to draw at any moment. I don't know if the 12.9 case had it, but I can disconnect the smart connector portion and lay the bottom of the tablet over the keyboard and draw or do whatever it is I'm doing.

Scrivener IOS, no question about it. Perfectly syncs with your phone and main computer too.

iA Writer is straightforward and I like its minimalism. That said, Scrivener should have a minimal mode like iA Writer somewhere too. While it's for longer projects it works for small stuff too, just start a project for your short pieces and stuff them there. It's expensive by AppStore standards though, particularly if you wanna use it on macOS too.

I also very nearly stopped using my MacBook since I got a keyboard case for my iPad Air 2. The only reason for using the MacBook is when I wanna have two Pages documents open at the same time like when I'm rewriting something from scratch and use the old doc as a reference. I could probably solve that by using Scrivener but so far haven't bothered.
