Oh good, there is a Sonic Mania thread. Guys, I can't stop looking at the gorgeous title screen. The loving title screen. I haven't been this excited for a new Sonic game since 3&K. Also on Amppelix posted:smh if you only listen to one song on the absolutely amazing soundtrack of Sonic Generations

I ended up getting Colors DS (couldn't find Rush Adventure anywhere) and found it quite enjoyable. Dunno if I'd say it's as good as the Wii version but it was simple fun and I found the level design a lot more fun than OG Rush. I also love Colors's music and world themes so that helped. Aquarium Park is so cool Running past alternate routes because you failed to react in a split second to them flying past at a million miles per hour and then getting dropped down past a point of no return is still annoying as poo poo though

Guys I'm having a Bad Day , do any of my sonic friends have any cool sonic fan art of Sonic like doing cool flips or peacefully overlooking the rolling hills of Mobius? Anything cool would be much appreciated. Thank you, -your friend

I really like this one. The world around him may be ruins of a long-dead civilisation, but Sonic is looking into the bright, hopeful sky. Don't care about the problems of the past, keep making a Good Future, buddy.

hey guys check it out, someone made a 3D sonic that actually looks pretty good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0IsSeE_ckI although I have to say it does seem a little aimless, but I think the foundation of what they have is really awesome when you consider that sonic CD operates on you being in an open level and building up speed to travel time, so they took that and cleverly made a 3D sonic game based on the same principle of never having to stop and never using boost pads and scripted events. I think it's more of a proof of concept of 'yes Sonic can be fun in 3d without the scripting and boost pads and go-fast button'.

The top speed is way too fast, but it does seem very well thought out in how Sonic moves otherwise. It at least doesn't look like Sonic slides everywhere like in every fangame engine so far. I'll give it a try later.

How's the PS3 version of Unleashed anyway? I own the Wii one and by the time I got my PS3 a demo was nowhere to be found. There was DLC for levels, which I assume are exclusive to the platform? elf help book posted:That's cool but what if it was Tony Hawk instead of Sonic? Earlier this summer someone dug up a prototype/demo for a Sonic skateboarding game that Sega began during the TH craze, but killed off pretty early, probably because they realized if they couldn't get platforming right they shouldn't spend their resources trying to make skateboarding physics.

Doesn't seem to handle precision platforming all that well cause sonic slips around a little even at low speeds, also good luck getting onto one of the platforms that move up and down cause your first instinct is to use the shadows but they lie to you.

There was DLC for levels, which I assume are exclusive to the platform? The PS3 version of Unleashed is pretty alright! Daytime stages are solid fun, but even if you don't mind the gameplay, the werehog levels are still a long slog. The DLC for the game is in two categories: 1) we wanted to try a gimmick/thing but it didn't make it in the game here it is; 2) Hard Mode levels/challenges. These stages aren't in the Wii version that I'm aware of.

I for one think that Green Hill Paradise fangame looks really fun and I'd like to see the guy flesh it out, not get a C&D from Sega, and maybe also get hired to help design future 3D Sonic games that aren't poo poo.

There's a fun and good level in most of the 3d sonics though. One level doesn't prove anything.

i'd love to see the team behind that make a casino zone type level. Also the thing is, when you really get down to it the first level of most sonic games are good.

Green Hill Paradise appears to just be a custom level for Sonic GDK, which is a sonic game engine based on Unreal Engine. It's got tons of levels, although maybe none as high quality as this. But those physics definitely are nothing new on the fangame scene, this thing has existed since at least 2012.

# ? Sep 3, 2016 23:14 |

Yeah, the engine is not what's impressive, what's impressive is the (admittedly still rudimentary) level design that doesn't rely on speed boosts and that isn't a linear on-rails path. That's something you don't really see all that often (at all?) in modern 3D Sonic games.
