The AMC V8s had all the torque, but not so much the efficiency. OTOH, parts are cheap, because it used the ECU/carb/distributor/alternator/starter and solenoid/AC compressor/brakes from a Ford pickup, the Mopar 727 transmission, and Dana 44 axles. Pretty much only the longblock, frame, and body were built by AMC, everything else was overruns from other marques, depending on year (in the '70s they had GM TH400 transmissions, in the '60s Buick engines, etc.).

Delivery McGee posted:I've always wanted an Eagle. Jeep with a car body? Sign me the gently caress up. No way the 258 gets 30mpg though. I had one in Wisconsin I loved. Two things were great about it though. One, it was unstoppable in the winter. Two, when you pop the hood most of the bits underneath said "JEEP" on it which was cool as heck. Plus it was a wagon so of course. And you are right there is no way in hell it gets 30, 19 is more like it. What a great car it was.

Can't remember where I learned the phrase, maybe here, but "Prison Car" seems the only way to explain this time capsule. Joey did something stupid and got put away for 15 years, the car sat in Ma's garage ever since. If this had been out in the wild between 2002 and today, you'd at least expect it to be slammed an inch from its life with sawsall'd fenders, flat black, sticker-bombed windows and "only needs a starter and a clutch" in the listing.

Kit car rules? I had assumed that all of those projects where you cobble a couple different cars together were registered as one of the donor cars, not the resultant one.

When my truck got stolen, i found out it was registered as a "Ford SRW" because the lady at the DMV picked the wrong part of "ford f250 SRW" off the bill of sale to type into the computer. We don't have titles and poo poo though. that might make it more difficult.

Or the little round hatch in the side of old tank turrets to pass shells in instead of lifting them all the way up top to the people-hatches; instead of taking my suitcase in the front and lifting it over the seat to the behind-the-seat area, just toss it in from the side.
