My iPhone 6 Plus, I dropped it in water and it destroyed it. So, I went through the Apple Store and replaced it with a new one. I'm on the AT&T Next Plan. I can still trade that phone back in to get the 7 through that program, right? I mean, obviously the serial is different. But everything is fine on it.

You should be able to as long as AT&T is similar to Verizon. I actually had to have my phone replaced on Verizon and when my edge upgrade time came they had no problem accepting the refurb. They just made sure the new serial number was the one I was using for that line on my account.

Hey who has downgraded from like a 6 to an SE and how did that go for you? I gotta get a new phone soon cuz the lightning jack on my 6 is hosed (but the headphone jack is perfect lol). I want to do a trade-in so Verizon has to deal with my lovely lightning jack. Last time I got $200 for an iphone 4 late in The Year 2014. It was great. Hell, I'll do another 2-year if Verizon has a good trade-in offer again.

gently caress the 7. I still get semi-annoyed with how big the 6 is sometimes but I wonder if the smaller SE screen will be an equal pain in the rear end. Could go 6S I suppose. They don't get the touch disease, right?

Most people pay it off in installments through their carrier or now with Apple's own upgrade plan. It's what its always cost, if you think its ridiculous then

All hat and no cattle

What is the point of the upgrade program if you have to return the phone at the end? Better to just buy the phone outright and then sell it when you're done with it and recoup 60% of the cost.

Sounds like a poor tax

I can just hand in my phone without any hassle when the new one goes out, get insurance with it, and it's not too much different than carrier finance options. Or I can just pay it off and then sell it whenever.

Edit: The 6S+ still fetches over $600-700 in places and I'd say you can recoup closer to 75-85% in less than 12 months. But you gotta deal with selling it yourself.

Were 4" screens the intended one-handed size for the typical on-screen buttons in the upper left and right hand corners in iOS? I started using iOS with the iPhone 6 and they're really stupidly placed up there unless I use a smart button screen protector that's janky and reduce touch sensitivity on its edges.

yes. on a 5/5s/SE you can reach every part of the screen one handed without having to shift your grip at all.

Words cannot describe what a disaster the pie was.
Would someone like to help me out with thinking through my choices?

I'm rocking a Nexus 6P currently but like the way the new phone looks so I'm going to get the 7+ 128 Gig.

I have a paid off ATT iPhone 6, 64 Gig that I've had forever and it's in really solid shape.

I'm very interested in a payment plan, AT&T Next or the Apple program. And I'd like to trade in the 6.

What is my best course of action for doing all this?

Can I do this all online and mail in my iPhone 6 to Apple and use them? Or would I be better off going to an AT&T store and trading in my phone to them and getting the 7 on a Next Plan?

That's interesting. The iOS 10.0.1 people are downloading is actually the first 10.0.1 beta according to reddit, and not the 10.0 GM release.

Your lightning jack is most likely packed with lint, and not hosed as you say. Grab a toothpick and get in there, you'd be surprised. I've had to do it twice now as I thought my poo poo was broke too, only for the Apple store Genius man to tell me I'm an idiot.

You can't mail stuff in to Apple. You go to the store.

I'd recommend just selling the 6 outright.

Even if I wasn't worried about losing them, Earpods feel horrible to me so there's no chance I want Airpods.

EDIT: I'll admit I'm a little surprised they didn't switch to USB-C to Lightning cables and USB-C power bricks.

I've honestly never had that problem. They also mentioned the new Beats use the W1 poo poo so maybe one of those might work better for some if they want that iCloud functionality.

The headphone thing guarantees it's a bad time to buy a new iPhone. Won't see peripherals showing up using Apple's "lol bluetooth ain't good enough we gotta fuckin make our own right boys??" wireless tech for a while, and quality options probably not until next year.

Obviously plain old bluetooth will continue to work but I really fuckin' hate when Apple decides to dream up a new standard for everyone to select from.

I'm indifferent about it, because as you said, there's still the option of Bluetooth and (kind of) analog, as well as the included lightning earpods. They really could've handled this a lot worse by skimping on what's included in the box. $159 wireless proprietary earbuds is hilarious, though... And I thought last year's $100 stylus was rich. I'll eat a few of my words if they sound anywhere near worth their cost, but not all of them.
