daslog posted:I hit the range again today. Thanks for all the feedback, I really hit a lot better today just keeping things simple and controlled. You're allowed to bend your elbows in your golf swing, just sayin'. Your swing looks very very stiff to me, joints are meant to bend, that's why they're there.

Also one thing to take into account is that everyone will have a differing opinion of what could be wrong with your swing. This is due to what they were thought during lessons themselves as well as what feels natural, factors such as flexibility, height and range of motion for you personally will factor into what your ideal swing should be. A group giving you feedback while you may get pointers that do help you are just as likely to get bad advice as you'll focus in on suggestions which may not be beneficial to you personally and could do more harm than good. This is the reason having a pro teach you is the best option as the continuity and consistency they can provide being one person is best. When I say bad advice it's not that anyone is being malicious with their suggestion or is wrong but getting a professional is far and away the best option. Personally I tend to find that I avoid most online swing fixes and tips as all they do is put too many ideas into your head that mess with your mind. Although they are good for basic ideas you shouldn't really take anything as gospel and try and fight through an uncomfortable motion. It's not the cheapest option but even one lesson for an hour or two with a pro will give you a few pointers to work on which will be better for your game than people here helping. I don't want to be a downer or poo poo on what you have shown us as it takes a lot of guts to even post video, I just feel like even 2 hours a month with a pro would make such a huge difference to your game compared with any help you could get from a group think tank online.

Check out the video here: https://www.golftec.com/blog/2016/08/elbow-bend-consistent-contact-swingtru/ Edit: But the above poster is totally correct. I'm sure you've taken lessons before and understand that an investment in instruction is the best way to improve.

Monthly medal today. Played to my Nett handicap and due to course conditions managed to knock a shot off my handicap. Super hyped, 2 birdies on the round one of which was a tap in from a 5 foot eagle chance which I just lipped out. One of those days where although the short game was quite ordinary my drives and irons were working really well for me.

Got to play a fairly easy casino course in Lake Charles. I started on the back 9, and I was pleased with my driving (overall) and not happy with the greens. I haven't touched a club in 3 weeks, so to hit 9 greens in a row and not make a putt was pretty annoying. The greens were SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. I got to the course a little late and didn't step on the practice green, but turns out it didn't matter because the practice green was up to speed, and the course greens were not. If I didn't miss a putt short, I tried to hammer it and pushed or pulled it instead. The driver was better today. Got one of those Vapor Flys for $99 (demo club in brand new condition), and I was hitting nice little draws with it for the most part. Probably won't last long. 10 - Drive, 50 yard wedge that barely snuck on to the green. Rusty. 11 - Good drive, good 5 iron below the hole. Left the putt like 3 feet short. 12 - Hit a drive in the left rough, but I hit it well. Smoked a hybrid from 230 just over the back of the green. Hit a mediocre floppy chip and missed a 10 footer for birdie. 13 - Sorta-drivable, hit a drive just short of pin high. Hit an even more mediocre pitch on, couldn't get the birdie putt to fall. 14 - Stuffed a gap wedge, but still struggled with the speed. 15 - Cut a corner with the driver, tried to play a low spinner with a 54 instead of my 58, but I should have used a 50. Almost made this putt though. 16 - Set up for a big swinging hook 9, hit a soft draw 25 feet right of the flag instead. Ran the first putt by 5 feet, made the par. 17 - Hit a good drive, hit a 9 that landed 3 feet right of the flag and spun down a slope to the very edge of the green. Ran my birdie putt by 10 (!) feet, got really lucky to make that for par. 18 - Good drive, aggressive layup to 90 yards (found some rough near a fairway bunker), and then I stuffed a 58 to 5 feet. Still couldn't make a putt. 1 - Not the best drive, but I hit my 17* from 238 yards to the back of the green. Lagged an eagle putt from 35 feet to 3 feet, made my first birdie. 2 - Okay 3W, okay GW, curled in a 20 footer for birdie on the last rotation. 3 - Probably laid a little too far back with a hybrid off the tee. Smoked a 6i right at the flag, but I couldn't tell if it was in the middle or back. Turns out, it was in the back, and I went long. Finally hit a decent enough pitch back to the green and got up and down for par. 4 - First bad iron shot of the day. Smothered an 8, hit a so-so pitch on, but couldn't make a par putt from 15 feet. 5 - Hit a driver and okay 17* to just short right of the green. Played another low spinner with a 58* that I had to land short, and I made a 6 footer for birdie. 6 - Good drive and approach to 15 feet right of the pin, and I left this one right in the jaws. I yelled at some clouds. 7 - Caught up to a group with a lady who was walking. Hit an 8i from 154 to 20 feet. The lady stuffed some club from her tees to 5 feet. I made par, didn't see if she made her putt. 8 - Got a little aggressive while trying to cut some bunkers at a corner, didn't clear the last one. I hit a REALLY good 5i from 170 that got up in a hurry and just died near the front of the green. Got up and down for par. 9 - Good drive left me with 120, probably playing 130. Fatted a GW (wasn't the right club anyway), hit a blah pitch to 20 feet, and I made that for par in front of some dudes on the patio. I got a beer raise. No one else golfed over the weekend? wtf guys Back to back rounds at 76 on different courses. I feel like I'm starting to get into a groove with my short/mid irons and my putter was behaving this last round. Going to play my favorite course this weekend, Mission Inn El Campeon, rated one of the best courses in Florida and also one of the oldest, hopefully I can carry over everything from these past 2 rounds and post up a decent score. Just looked and my best round there is 82, feel like I can best that this weekend with the way I've been playing.

Here is mine. First, Crotched Mountain. I played the amount of holes here with a 7,8,9,PW,GW,SW and P. I just wanted to go out, hang with friends, and see if I could hit a 7 iron. (The answer is no, I can't really hit one.) Next, we had a off day in leagues this week, but it was free golf if you showed up to play. 3 of us played 18 holes in 4 hours 30 minutes. I put a lot of time and effort into getting better since April, and while I saw results once (breaking 90) I'm giving up for now. I'll play in leagues for the last 4 weeks, and play with friends when they ask. I just don't find golf fun to play at my skill level anymore.

I've only had time to practice the last few weekends. I guess I like my 7-iron and driver although the others didn't appear as offline as it would appear (5 shots). Srixon z745, C-Taper Lite (s), Callaway GBB set at 10.0.

mattfl posted:No one else golfed over the weekend? wtf guys I did! Finally applying what I've learned in my lessons on the course - so hard to do. Out of the 9 driver tee shots 8 of them were straight or a slight fade which I'm ecstatic about. Hit almost every green which led to the 35 putts. Also the greens had just been Verti-Drained and sanded.

Results from the weekend medal just got posted. Lost the Div 2 medal by 2 strokes, came 4th overall Nett out of 54 starters so that's good. I'm really annoyed at how I went with my short game on Saturday now though some of those skinned chips around the green cost me a medal.

Tiger's backish, again. He's says he's going to play three tournaments before the end of the year. The Safeway Open in California, the Turkish Airlines Open, and his tournament, the Hero World Challenge. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/sep/07/tiger-woods-return-golf-injury-layoff

Honestly it'd be good to see him back in the loop. He's probably never going to be the Tiger of old, but Tiger even at 75% is still a hell of a golfer.

Tiger at 75% will probably still win once or twice a year and have some good runs at a major.

I found a 60 degree wedge on the green last Monday. It's a titleist that has fake rust on it or something. I completely forget to turn it into the clubhouse. Questions 1) Why are there clubs with fake rust on them? 2) Does a person who buys clubs with fake rust deserve to get it back?

Are you sure it's fake rust? Could just be surface rust from being out on the green or something.

Managed to fit in a sneaky 9 today. Played to handicap par again, I really need to take as much time as I can on my short game as I think I could knock 4-5 stroke off if I was constant. Major problem at the moment is lack of confidence I stand over any chip or short iron and feel like I am going to put the leading edge into the middle off the ball rather than coming up underneath. On the occasion I do get under it I'm compensations so much I take too much turf and hit it fat.

That sounds like you're aiming for a + angle of attack on your chips which will never be consistent.
