The best part being that the book of James is basically telling him (Paul) off and making GBS threads all over his Salvation through Faith and Grace Alone doctrine. Even better given that it was James, the Brother of Jesus, writing it.

Also the line where he said "and women shouldn't speak up in church, but should wait till they get home and ask their husbands." doesn't appear in earlier manuscripts of that book, and where it does, it's been added in in somebody else.

Even the GoP is quite upset with how the nouveau raciste is just causally showing off their racism, failing to understand that racism is to be carefully nurtured and discreetly allowed to flourish. A proper gentlemen racist comes from a family that worked hard to get where they are, whippin' slaves, hunting Indians, exploiting the Irish and bashing gays, and won't stand by and watch some redneck telling them that wetbacks are destroying the country, when one can simply push for random ID checks and civil forfeiture, whilst simultaneously taking advantage of cheap labour.

Luigi Thirty posted:The bernouts on Woke Twitter are all flipping out about that stupid line costing Hillary the election lol It's not going to help. I'm assuming that the media will continue its post-DNC reporting pattern of magnifying and demonizing everything Hillary says or does, while all but ignoring Trump's daily gaffes, so we should expect to hear about how offensive and insulting this statement was to heterosexual white people until sometime in October. Trump's only chance at this is to get heterosexual white people to either vote for him or stay home, and the media seems to be perfectly content to help him. Hillary has the minorities and LGBTs, but she can't win if they're the only ones who turn out for her.

Unfortunately, the fact that Republicans still have a voting bloc and Fox News an audience proves that's too much to ask.

If there's one reason to suspect that this was a planned angle and not a gaffe, it's the comparison to Romney's 47% thing. Because it's totally obvious, but the second you try to talk about it, you hit the difference that Romney was writing off everyone who didn't vote Republican while this divides Republicans into voters who can be reached and those who can't.
