So what they get system control but it's just RP and the actual game doesn't reflect their "ownership" in any way?

You know how every system in the game has 3-7 "minor factions", usually with randomly generated names like LFT 3447 Democrats or Eravate Free Network, and every station in the system is under the control of one of those factions? They decided that a faction in Eleu, the Social Eleu Progressive Party, was "their faction", named themselves after it, and started doing things to boost that faction's influence and spread it to more systems. They have no actual connection to or control over that faction, they've just decided that it's theirs and that it represents their zone of control. They don't "own" the systems or have any actual control or advantage there, but the systems have their name on them (or to be more accurate, the name of the thing they named themselves after) so they claim the systems as "theirs".

Ah gotcha. But in this roundabout way they can actually influence "their" faction a bit, within the limits the BGS allows players to influence NPC factions. I was just missing the part where players claim to be controlling/representing NPC factions, then.

Next I'm going to read up on this whole EG/Russians thing :v:

Wow - I had no idea that it wasn't even a real player faction just a pretend one. That really puts the raging into perspective.

How dare FDev screw over my favorite pretend it's mine NPC faction!

I was wondering what the hell the point of "owning" a system was or why it'd even matter in this single-player space sandbox but then I saw "roleplay" and everything made sense.

On a different note, for those playing Elite: Dangerous instead of Space Autism Simulator... are there like no inhabited Anarchy systems at war? Filtering them down seems to make all stars vanish from the map. I've tried systems in Outbreak but I've never seen a Seeking... USS in those nor a random T9. Scrapping endless Haulers/T6s/T7s gets me about one Manipulator an hour at best.

Dont know if this is still of concern, but i farmed my stock of manipulators in a "Seeking Weapons" point of interest in "69 G. Carinae" (yes i went there for lols because 69 and g-point).
Theres one at the station that is conveniently 400.000 ls away. (just checked, its near the C4 planet)

The important thing is that while you can reset points of interest like mission boards, they usually also refill with transports when you kill them.
Got about 30 manipulators in 10 minutes of killing T9s.

I would still like to know the secret technique of aquiring specialised legacy firmware, "very common" my rear end.

Most SLF i've found were in USS in deep space. I can't remember the exact name but it was a type of emissions source, and inside there will be a private data cash you just target and scan the same way you do a nav beacon or planet.

I feared so.
I got tired of spending hours to chase signal sources so i dedcided to open palin instead.
Now im spending hours refreshing mission boards to get modular terminals.

That's how SEPP got on GalCop and our's shitlists in the first place. We had nothing to do with them but before the DGs were even announced we put in for a community goal to celebrate the return of an exploration expedition. They decided that it was a filthy frog trick to ruin exploration and "steal" exploration data from SEPP to whom it rightfully belongs. That ballooned into a whole "GalCop is out to ruin exploration" series of rants and arguments.

My favorite part is that a bunch of the SEPP dudes are also in the "neverEve" faction where they don't want anything that could remotely move the game in a direction that even slightly resembles Eve, but here they are, screaming about the goons and russians and how they're going to kill the game.

Is there any way to counteract getting a 400 credit bounty by shooting a police eagle that flies between me and my bounty? This seems to inevitably end with all 4+ police ships switching from the 50k bounty to me and destroying me before I can escape.

You can get smart ammo from an engineer as bonus that will self destruct but I don't think it is worth it compared to other boni.

Fun fact about smart ammo: It also makes your projectiles slower! So it's a terrible bonus and you should never ever take it.

Better option: get dirty drive tuning and just boost out of there if you anger the security forces. Might as well wait out the timer while rearming and repairing.

Doing My First Sothis run at this very moment... I have like 6 million in missions on me, which is incredible, but man is this stressful! I keep getting interdicted while fuel scooping inches from the sun. Somehow my cargo hatch has taken heat damage and now I start dropping cargo if I get hot at all. If I drop mission-specific cargo, I basically lose millions instantly. I'm freaking out over here!

edit: done! I learned something valuable - if you're carrying cargo and see ANY other ships on radar, get away from the sun.

What are you flying?

You can also shove your rear end into the sun and the NPC who is trying to interdict you will fly into it and get kicked out of hyperspace.

Is the Cutter much better than the conda for this? I would think the massive jump on the conda would make it a bit more efficient.

Edit: Also, is there a galactic T9 shortage? Out of the hundreds of USS attempts I've gone through not one has been Seeking Weapons. War system, civil war system, even tried a bunch of Outbreak systems for Seeking Medicine ships... nada. The highest population Anarchy system I've found at war has been ~700k so it's possible you need to wait for some rare thing to happen. Just wish I could find one of these mythical farming grounds for Chemical Manipulators.

^This.

Don't bother with the USS unless you happen to find a good one. While looking for that, keep scanning your contacts list for any haulers (T-6/7/9, Hauler, Keelback maybe?) and just interdict them! Since you are already in an Anarchy system, it wont make any difference. There is a high population one near Momus Reach, I think it's called Qi Yomisii!

69 G. Carinae, planet C4
Yes its 400k ls out there, but once you hit it you can stock up till you puke.

For Sothis i think the Anaconda is supreme to the cutter due to jump range.
Given, i didnt pimp my "dear god why did i do this" for jump range but combat, but i doubt it can out-do the 49.88ly of my conda.

Speaking of cutters, whats a good combat loadout?
Ive got 2med and 2 large beam turrets with "cools your ship while they hit" engineer upgrade on top,
And 2 med heal beams with a "part-explosive" Cannon in the huge harpoint in the chin that doesnt hit poo poo.
