He sucks. He doesn't mix tracks together, he just presses songs on his iPhone basically. Stops them in the middle of the song, with no transition. The only song he lets play all the way is Kanye songs.

so people ITT dislike Kid Cudi? I have listened to two of his albums and they're not rap, but I do like listening to them. He was first mentioned to me ITT so that's why I'm discussing him

when were those albums you liked released?

poo poo, i didn't even like cudi's stuff that was widely acclaimed.

the only good thing he did was create this song to blaze one to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1i3zRIrfvU

Everything he made after his debut album has gotten worse with each album.

Virgil created been trill and off white which are two of the most influential streetwear brands. I don't gently caress with it but the super rich Chinese exchange students at my university are draped in those brands always. He can DJ well when he wants to https://www.soundcloud.com/stussy/wet-out-here-mix-by-been-trill
I saw him in London and you might be right about the transitions but when you're playing rap songs unless you plan it or can scratch it is all a bit up in the air. The main thing is to create a vibe with great selections while looking like you're having the best fun of your life, which he did well.

There's a new Reks album out. I haven't heard anything he's done since R.E.K.S., but I really liked that. Can anyone speak to how he's been doing since then and if it's worth peeping his new poo poo

idk, i'm not saying that playlist-djing can't be totally legit in the right environment (and a kinda famous dude as a first opener and low on a daytime festival bill is that environment), but i have definitely seen hits-based sets that put a lot of care and thought into transitions. I saw Sango open for Goldlink and it was a cool mix of his own stuff, huge hits, and random tropical/house cuts that served mainly as transitions. was one of the best dj sets i've ever seen actually, which like, i never thought i'd say about a set that iirc included panda and fsmh pt 2

but yeah i bet he did do a lot of preplanning for that, at least curating a lot of songs that weren't just hits that he knew he'd be able to mix in/out of

Pretty much. His first record had great production, shame he tried to rap-sing on it.
