I mean if "all it needs" is a rinse of the varnish out of the fuel tank, and it's $950; for the price of a couple car payments you have an awesome winter beater or a slick summer camping rig. Those EA motors, while by today's standards are kinda anemic, the drat thing still will weigh a couple hundo over a ton, has pushbutton 4WD, and has those sick chicken-tax-dodging rear seats. Also, they're within the load range of the cheaper UTV Matttrax.

How "easy" is it to drop something like an LS1 or LS2 with a modern transmission into a mid/late 70s C3 Vette? Cuz I still dig that body style, and the worst years of that generation are still halfway affordable.

Craigslist isn't really a thing in the UK, and autotrader is pretty crap at cars over 10 years old. There are bolt in kits for everything and the "controller kit" from GM makes wiring easy. This is all basically why you have LS ALL THE THINGS!!!!..... and junk yard engines are cheap as poo poo in true GM small block fashion.

I really looked into getting one for the longest time and so much poo poo is NLA that you're pretty much guaranteed to be dead in the water on a neglected one. It's a shame because on paper a Porsche cobbled together with VW and Audi parts seems like it'd be easy, but Porsche hosed around with so much poo poo that it a lot of stuff doesn't carry over.
