E for mystery fun. Some sort of ComStar false flag behind the lines? That boarding action we never took? Another look at the pirate royal rumble? A sudden drop into Battletech RPG? Who cares, let's do ... whatever it is!

All of the options this time around are good, but I'm going to have to go with option D. This conflict between the Scorpions and Widowmakers has been simmering for some time and it's about time we got to see it really boil over. It's also not just about defeating the Widowmakers, it's about relentlessly trolling their unit so hard they all die of embarrassment, which should be great fun. Also, literally carpet-bombing the enemy with Elementals. Who could possibly say no to that?

Looks like the mystery option is in the Duchy of New Syrtis, so I'm really tempted to pick that one to see if the politics goes nuts, but I think I have to go with D - something about the Goliath Druggies trying to cockslap Clan Widowmaker sounds too much fun to pass up.

Something to remember is that even losing votes matter. How many votes a losing choice gets determines how successful the unchosen protagonists are off-screen. To that end, let's have a look at the choices and what they might mean to the broader story: A & B are tied at the hip, since they're basically opposite sides of the same battle. Pick A if you want Amaris & Company to keep walking all over the Clan's faces, B if you'd prefer to see the Rimmers finally get a setback and have the Xanatos Gambit they're running finally slow down a bit. C probably hasn't got too much to do with the overall resolution on Andurien, but could steer the long term success of the Demon Hawks and more broadly, the Freeborn succession movement among the Clans, or at least among the Sea Fox/Snow Raven/Ghost Bear contingents. D moves us back to the main Clan front with the Goliath Scorpions kicking the Widowmakers in the face. Entertaining, but its been so long since we had good look at PTNverse Clan politics that I'm not really sure what a victory or loss here would do to tong term storyline. Always fun to see Clanners get kicked in the face, though, even if only at the hands of other Clanners. E is, of course, a mystery. But the location in the Periphery part of the Duchy of New Syrtis is suggestive. After all we just had Justin musing on his next move. That move could be this battle. But are you voting to help the Capellans or thwart them? That far out, it could instead be some crazy Tauran Concordat action, but which side? Who knows? Mystery Box! F will probably have little to no long term consequences at all. But it'll be wild, wacky fun! Any of them will be entertaining, but looking to the long term repercussions, I think I'm going to go with C. Let the Hawks keep screwing the Clans, even if only off screen!

I'm voting for F. We've spent a long time with NRWR equipment against Clan machines, so no Republic forces and no Clans for this one. Need to change it up.

Huh. What do protomechs do that battle armor/elementals can't(is there a difference between those two anyway?)

Personally, I vote C. Even if they don't win, I want them to do well. Aside from that, all of the options looks like great fun, so I don't care what wins.

TheParadigm posted:Huh. What do protomechs do that battle armor/elementals can't(is there a difference between those two anyway?) Elementals are a specific Clan suit of battle armor (or the soldiers inside them). You know, the thing with the one arm and the one claw, the jet pack with SRMs and the dome for the head. Battle armor is any kind of thing that operates on that scale, including quad BA like the Fenrir. ProtoMechs are an attempt by the Clans to cut down on material use (because the Clan homeworlds are real pieces of poo poo) and figure out something to do with all these failed ASF pilots. They use mech-scale weapons instead of BA gear like battle armor and move independently rather than as a unit. They are too big to move through buildings like BA, but they use direct EI control with the pilot so they never need to make piloting rolls (like a BA unit). Another major difference is that BA can be very good and ProtoMechs kind of suck.

Part of why I like the company d option is because I am very curious to see if any of the free births from the Outfoxed mission are among the defectors. It should be a nice change of pace 'mechwise too because from the sound of it these guys are running golden century Royal refits. Some really classic poo poo and it would be interesting to see PTN's spin on em

While F looks super fun and will probably win anyway (because it's Mad Max-ian shenanigans), I think I would like to see Amaris be dealt something of a setback. Can't have this be too easy, after all. So I'm going with B. There have to be some cool Sea Foxes out there, right?

B Can't have Amaris winning every battle, then it isn't exciting. And if goons win by fighting not-like-clanners, maybe they'll take notice?

That are some tough choices. A lot of it is drat fun. Though I recall the fun and cool stuff happening in the Pirate scenario, and while the Wastelanders are not Pirates... Well F it is. Though I'd love to see air dropped Elementals. And D Company. And the Mystery box. But going to Vote F. Because it will be hilarious.

B I would like to see some push back on Amaris' gambit. Especially since that specific group of clans are picked from some of the more crafty choices among them. Lets give them a chance to shine for a bit and live up to some of their shrewd reputations.
