i don't know if it's still the case, but when i used to work for a company that made ipod-compatible products, apple's marketing guidelines forbade you from using articles with their product names "this speaker is compatible with iPhone", not "compatible with the iPhone" "plug the headphone amplifier into iPod", not "into your iPod" etc

we should stop calling them smartphones phone call is like #20 on list of things people do with their phones now and smart is a meaningless adjective, only relevant as a comparator a sci fi story i read used "pocket slate" and "slate". this seems reasonable.
