Yeah, honestly, I hosed up. I trained amarr cruisers 5 first, rather than logi 5. I'm still a little bit confused, because I didn't think I really needed to worry about cap that much.

I probably need a mentor, but I thought the thing you did was someone broadcasts for armor, you use all your reps once on him, then move to the next dude. Would I really run out of cap that way?

You didn't gently caress up - as a 'relatively newer' player I've basically come to understand skill training as, "get yourself access to some new ships, train the next thing / train existing functionality further, and while that's happening spend your time really learning the inside-out of the ships you just gave yourself access to". e.g. after my first few months I ragetrained Interceptors (V), Interdictors (IV), bit of small weapons and IV-level supports for those so I could mess around in various frigates and destroyers, then went on a core skill bender because I'd given myself more than enough to learn how to actually fly well for a good while.

Amarr Cruiser V gives you a few cool things beyond just the Guardian:
- A well-skilled Omen Navy Issue, which (while not being a wtfpwnmobile what with Orthruses and recons and 35km+ scram hics apparently busy loving like rabbits everywhere you roam) is IMO a fun and amazing teaching tool for manual piloting, solo, and gang anti-support.
- A well-skilled Auguror Navy Issue, which gets pulled out from time to time and is generally a fun ship either to brawl with or bait in.
- A properly tanking bait Maller (niche, I know, but it's a thing - albeit an obvious one to most veterans. An easy 100k EHP and a Cynosural Friend Generator makes for a good time).
- A Legion, which is especially fantastic for anti-support.
- A Sacrilege, which isn't particularly amazing outside of budget wormhole brawls but it's still a fun ship for gangs.
- Devoter, king of gently caress-you-I've-got-you hics.
- Curse/Pilgrim, at first awkward to pilot and expensive to learn lessons about but excellent for making GBS threads on others' dreams.

Having low SP can be daunting but skill progression will very soon start feeling more "horizontal" (choice-based) rather than "vertical" (constraint-based). You've gotten a pretty useful and important skill out of the way, perhaps not at the ideal time, but it's out of the way. If you feel like you are not getting as much fun or value out of what you're training for time-wise, then queue up some quick SP-efficient roles (ones I mentioned in my first reply) so you have a basic stock of broadly applicable ships to choose from, and spend your time getting good at those while you train the more specialised stuff like a Logi V guardian.

Re staggering reps / "you use all your reps on him": What I mean is, if you don't have good cap stability in a Guardian due to skills, then when you first lock your friendly up don't instantly fire all your reps at the same time. Fire the first, wait 1-3s, fire the second, etc. This way, instead of all your reps drawing capacitor in bulk at once, your cap consumption is more staggered and piecemeal, and plays nicer with your cap regen. Of course with armour especially you've got the problem of actually catching reps in time, so one thing you could try is firing all your reps on a new target to help make sure it catches in time, and then after that first cycle, staggering them like I described.

Of course if everyone did this you'd have a bit less staying power, but this isn't categorical advice: I'm saying that for you, specifically, given that Logi/Cap skills might not be maxed yet, this is the way to ensure that a) you stay active and useful in the fight while you've still got a ship, and b) you're not putting undue strain on the cap chain. If you catch yourself starting to dip below ~17% cap then focus on staggering or straight up just don't run one of your reps - if you mismanage and end up going cap-dry you're useless anyway and making the rest of the cap chain pay for it, too.

Oh dear director of spreadsheets, if you know of a workaround please inform this humble supplicant.

the workaround is the old way we used to track market orders; a bit of javascript that uses the IGB to load the market's orders for an item, coupled with a cache scraper that reads the market data from your game cache, then reports on that

goonmetrics used to work like that, idk if the code for the scraper is still functional or not though

I stepped down voluntarily from my director position when I knew I no longer had the free time to make sure I was doing my space job well. Nobody had to fire me for sucking, no feelings had to be hurt, and no friendships had to be destroyed. I lined up my replacement, got him up to speed enough that I felt comfortable handing it over, and then told Sion I was stepping down. It's not that hard.

Honestly, I never should have been a director in the first place. I'm a loving horrible leader, and recon suffered tremendously under my guidance. I'm much better as a poopsocking subdirector than I ever was being in charge of humans. Leaving the space fame behind was easy, because I hated it anyway.

As far as the Sion/Endie thing goes, it's a tough one for me. Sion is a friend, and I respect him tremendously. I've seen so many people fail at English comprehension and horribly misinterpret something he said. I have a lot of sympathy for him on that, as it happens to me all the time. I'm not great at getting people to understand my point. Endie is my favorite writer. He has that fantastic ability to convey his message in a way that resonates with everyone. It's amazing. I have people on both sides that I respect telling me the other side is full of poo poo. For me, the difference is that when I went to Sion about things, he was open and transparent. When I went to Endie about things, I was greeted with mistrust and skepticism. Ultimately, I think Endie is probably right to say that Sion is a bully to people he feels aren't living up to expectations. And I feel like Sion is probably right when he says Endie is a self-centered egomaniac who didn't like feeling like he wasn't king. Also, Kazanir is basically the world's oldest boy scout. So if you pissed him off, you probably were in the wrong.

Blawrf is a friend, and I feel like he misinterpreted his conversation with Sion, and took being space fired way too personally. I have lots of love and respect for Blawrf, though.

Kismeteer is also a friend, and though he needed to be booted out of GSF for what he did, I feel like he got personally attacked for it maybe a little too much. I understand why he got upset that night, because Tiberizzle, though immensely talented, can be an insufferable shitbag sometimes. I think the personal animosity on both sides of the Kismeteer thing has spiraled way out of control, and everyone needs to just calm the gently caress down.

Semi true. TLDR version:

Someone made a better version of Somer Blink (called IWI), accumulated trillions of isk, and spent it to purchase mercenary services from basically every non-Russian alliance in the game, who collectively drove us out of the North. We lost all of our Northern sov, but we were largely able to evacuate supers / station assets / etc. to lowsec. So, we didn't lose much of our capability to threaten people.

After pounding our heads on the wall in lowsec for a few months, we moved south to Delve and took it by force from LUMPY (basically Evoke 3.0, and one of our northern attackers). We're now living in Delve and quietly rebuilding, with no immediate plans for expansions or retaliations.

The CFC/Imperium largely disbanded when we lost our sov:

* CO2 pulled a Sort Dragon, flipping sides to the attackers in exchange for filthy lucre.
* SMA and FCON abandoned us in mid-conflict, disavowing Goons and running to distant regions in the hopes of survival. SMA failcascaded; FCON survived, in a manner of speaking, becoming pseudo-mercenaries who follow TRI around.
* RAZOR and EXE stuck by us through the entire conflict, but decided to go their own ways when we moved to Delve.
* LAWN, BASTN, and TNT went with us to Delve and remain blue.

So, we're now in that semi-peaceful period where there's still fighting to have with our immediate neighbors, but people are mostly focused on refilling wallets and raising ADMs and building poo poo.

e: A word on what's happened since in other regions.

In our absence, the Northern regions have largely been populated with renters and pets. NC/PL hold all the money moons, which has crippled a lot of the potential value of the space for would-be inhabitants. Sort Dragon has largely turned Deklein and Branch into his personal fiefdom, alternately installing and then removing renters as they move in and out of his favor; due to this, nobody's really putting significant infrastructure in there, and the regions are relatively underutilized compared to what they were under the CFC. Pure Blind is mostly held by MOA, which has literally turned into a supercap ratting alliance (MASSADEATH left them, that's how bad it's gotten).

Querious Fight Club largely melted down due to their own idiocy, and Querious is only marginally populated atm.

XIX and Stainwagon had a slapfight that Stainwagon ultimately lost.

IMO FCON made an ok decision if TRI are cool and all, they seem to be decent at EVE and fought stainwagon mk whatever when badly outnumbered (and TRI won that)

the IWI thing is kinda dumb, but it also allows various groups (like TEST lmao) to go on adventures without having to worry too much about isk (which you tend to need when wiping mach fleets to gsf lmao)

This is a great post and echoes in a lot of ways the way I a non important director of nothing feel. I will say that the one interaction I had with Sion left me feeling like I had been manhandled, but the more I found out about that situation (Thanks ex directors with loose lips, and no I'm not telling tee hee flounce flounce) the less I blame him than I do people with agendas who were using their illum access to basically be dicks.

I don't know how to feel about all this Endie stuff, because about 50% of the time when I've had the ocasion to bullshit with him, that's basically what we did: Bullshit. I am happy this is all piling out into the open because I like catharsis. The little hidden feuds that wander around this forum where a couple of people are snipey assholes but nothing of substance ever happens is frustrating and generally drags the entire tone of the thread down in a way that these open arguments and fights never can.
