It's really easy to get a positive killboard in GSF and that is a weird killboard stat character. edit: are Nids good for something now? Or is it true they're even less relevant now they can't use sentries and lost the remote repair role to Force Auxiliaries. Anagram of GINGER fucked around with this message at 05:18 on Sep 17, 2016 |

Interesting night here I see, there are a lot more hurt feelings over all of this than I thought. Something I'm curious about is why we didn't shoot FCON in the back of the head when they left us, was it just not the space honorable thing to do? I have no real beef with them, but FCON such a bad cultural fit for GSF I don't understand how that relationship came to be in the first place either. We were too busy trying to spin the plates of not getting murdered to death by the casino coalition and re consolidate in lowsec/move to Delve to chase FCON half way across the galaxy. Besides, first on the vendetta list at that point was (and still should be) CO2. quote:I have no real beef with them, but FCON such a bad cultural fit for GSF I don't understand how that relationship came to be in the first place either. Personally don't think that part should matter to anyone below leadership. I'm only operating on the theory where if you walk out on your friends during war you're probably not friends anymore.

I'm of the legitimate belief that there isn't a single functioning brain cell in that alliance, not to mention their capability of executing a super trap. Turning on you guys in the middle of the war was a poo poo thing to do, which should be more than enough reason to ~hellwar~ them. Xolve fucked around with this message at 06:45 on Sep 17, 2016 |

It's time for an episode of Flanders' History Corner! nomad2020 posted:... but FCON such a bad cultural fit for GSF I don't understand how that relationship came to be in the first place either. FCON started out as one of those Amarr roleplaying alliances in Providence, five or six years ago. They started as a local area defense PvP group, then became a tiny alliance, then a bigger alliance, then became an official member of Provibloc... and then things got worse. Glorious leader CVA decided that expanding into Catch would be fun, and started a sov war with Russians in the middle of winter. AAA summoned the entire Southern Coalition up to Catch, took their systems back, and then systematically burned Providence to the ground. (This was around that same time that we got Karttoon'd.) With Providence lost, FCON moved up north, where the Northern Coalition had offered them a trial membership period -- around the same time that we were crashing on TCF's couch in Deklein. In the North, FCON rebuilt and started to become a thing again, enough that NC promoted them to full member and promised them most of Vale... and then things got worse. Glorious leader Morsus Mihi decided that expanding into the Drone Regions would be fun, and started a sov war with Russians in the middle of winter. (Sound familiar?) XXDeath summoned the entire DRF up to Etherium Reach, and counter-invaded the North, crushing all of MM's buffer-zone pets in Vale. FCON saw the writing on the wall, and didn't even bother trying to defend their newly-gifted space in Vale; they immediately retreated to Pure Blind, reset the remaining alliances in the rapidly failcascading NC, and joined the newly-formed CFC, where they fought like loving mad dogs. The CFC alliances held the lower North against Russians + PL + Evoke, culminating in the siege of VFK. FCON made a massive showing at VFK, and got a ton of space from us in exchange for their effort. Afterwards, they continued to fight alongside us as we went on our adventures on Delve and Branch and beyond. And that's pretty much it. Sure, FCON were always weird neighbors -- they had weird old morals from their RP days, and they had this weird creepy democracy thing -- but they used to be absolutely vicious little scrappers in the battlefield during the height of Dominion-era sov warfare. (Can't say the same for them today, obviously.) nomad2020 posted:Something I'm curious about is why we didn't shoot FCON in the back of the head when they left us, was it just not the space honorable thing to do? My highly unofficial read is that there were three reasons, from most to least important. 1) It wasn't the space honorable thing to do. Sure, FCON bailed on us and left us to our fate -- but that's all they did. That's a rather small sin, compared to any of the many active things they could have done to directly gently caress us over. (You know, like CO2 did.) 2) We were quite busy getting shot in the back of the head ourselves. 3) Letting them go peacefully made it more likely that some members of FCON would choose to stay behind with us rather than leave, and we needed to keep as many people as possible due to #2. To this day, it feels like the prevailing attitude towards FCON is a disappointed "you did something lame, and it's burned bridges between us" sort of thing, rather than any real level of anger. If we had a shitlist, they'd be on the extremely low-priority end of the list. And we may not need to do anything, anyways: Rumor has it is that TRI's thinking about the Northeast, and FCON knows all about sov wars with Russians during the winter...

I'm only operating on the theory where if you walk out on your friends during war you're probably not friends anymore. Guess you were not in LAWN or Bastion sitting in Vale evaccing your poo poo. We were all on comms and we get the ping, we literally said "gently caress, what do we do now. How do we move all this crap in 30 minutes". So if you believe leadership is the only people who should care you probably shouldn't post about it.
