I don't think anyone is saying the crime in these cities isn't an issue. But the rise in violent crime in Chicago is frequently used as a talking point to say that the US is not a safe place, or that black on black crime is the real problem.

Yeah, I hear you. And I do get the national vs local statistics, Chicago, St. Louis, etc. =/= Unites States.

The game of football rules and when the players turn out to be awesome off the field like Sherman and Lynch and Kaep my love for the game gets even stronger

I mean Kaeps literally a backup to Blaine Gabbert but what he's doing with the position is p remarkable. Too bad he's villianized so much. The fact more than zero black people were killed this week while surrendering is loving atrocious and the idea that creating a dialog about that is unpatriotic is loving bullshit

Colin Kaepernick is still a not-very-good QB. I mean, he showed brilliance in his first two seasons but man those flaws outshined. Missing that wide-open Torrey Smith read still sticks out in my mind.

edit: this was in post to the idea that a team would trade for Kaep to start him. I mean, I still he's better than Blaine Gabbert (not hard to be), but I don't think many would want to take on his salary. This is, of course, ignoring the very real fact that NFL execs despise him.

You can just see in Chip's face, he's like "are you loving serious with this question?"

Anyway, Doug Baldwin is using his press conference for more posturing:

https://twitter.com/gbellseattle/status/779048911960813568/video/1

If you don't wanna watch:

quote:

"As an american black male in this country, I'm suggesting calling -- I'm demanding -- that all 50 state attorney generals call for a review of their policies and training policies for police and law enforcement," Baldwin said in a prepared statement, "to eliminate militaristic cultures while putting a higher emphasis on de-escalation tactics and crisis-management measures."

"We know that there's a select few -- a very minute few -- of law enforcement who are not abiding by those laws and policies," he said. "We also know that there are laws and policies that are in place that are not correcting the issue that we have in our society right now."

Maybe this time he can actually take a knee during the anthem.
